so i know that this is a honda site, and this is def. not the swap section, but its also not a honda swap... i had this idea i don't know if its been done before, i'm gonna buy and older mazda or toyota pickup (preferably 80's) and swap in either a 13B twin turbo into the mazda (Japan Racing Engines Corp.) or a 1JZGTTE into the toyota truck (Japan Racing Engines Corp.)...

so basically i need imput on peoples ideas and opinions on this... its going to sorta be a DD but as the project continues, it will be a show and go truck eventually... i don't wanna keep puttin miles on the scoob being as its my only vehicle.. but i'd like to have something fast and fun to drive everyday, and it NEEDS to be a truck...

yea, its been done

definately a bit more original than a V8 swap into those trucks
there's a late 80's B series mazda with a 305 stuffed under the hood in my town

you're wanting 2wd or 4wd?
and where are you gonna find one with a clean enough body/frame to build in nebaska?

its been a tough search so far... found one, but the farmer really doesn't wanna sell it yet... one other one that the motor is out of... like i care anyway... but i'm reallly looking for a 70's mazda now, cause i found out that some of the 70's mazdas came with rotary engines so maybe that would simplify it a little bit... and yeah, not a big fan of V8's at all, so we're stickin with import on this one...

so no other input as to my new project idea???

yep mazda did make a rotary powered pickup in the mid 70s
its pretty sweet
friend of mine owns a yellow one in mint condition along with his 15 or so RX7s... he got it from the dealership a few years ago with some retardedly low milage i think its under 15k... the dealership had it on display... it belonged to the owner of the dealership who was a pretty big rotary freak... he owns the first and last RX7s brought into the US and a bunch of others... :) my friend was trying to buy that truck for about 15 years before the guy finally gave in (only because he found one in BETTER condition)

heres some pics of others

good fucking luck finding one in good condition... and if you do you will pay a shit ton for it
your best bet is going to be to swap a rotary into a newer mazda pickup

Just buy a Ford Courier which looks to be the same truck and drop a rotary in there. Not many people want a Courier if many even exist anymore. I hate how those trucks look, especially with how far down the bed goes compared to the cab.

nah, lookin for either 70's or 80's mazda or toyota pick up... its my belief that if its a chevy it needs a chevy motor, if its a honda it needs a honda motor... ya know??? ford makes mazda i know... but i don't wanna roll in a dirty F word...

aint nothing wrong with a Ford truck...i own one. and id LOVE to get one of those old school Mazda trucks and lay it out. a buddy of mine has a stock floored body dropped Ford Courier as his new project truck. heres a pic of his Ford Courier:

Dont be a Ricer

There is a guy here in town with a 87 Toyota 4WD pickup, he put a 4.3 GM V6 in it, and it hauls. Still plenty of room left in the engine bay too.

you should pick up a 85-89 Mazda B series truck and swap in a 4.3, then turbo charge it. 2 grand + the cost of the truck and you will have a bad machine.

12a's are garbage. carb'ed 13b would be the way to go for simplicity, but then you'd be looking at the same gas milage as a chevy powerplant, and 5984375 times as expensive on parts. if its gonna be a DD anyways, go with what works.

he built a new frame for it which is smaller in height which gave him a huge drop (hence why its called a stock floor body drop). he also has air ride suspension so the truck is able to raise up to almost stock height.

just cause i wanna drop an import motor into a import pickup doesn't make me a ricer... and anywho... i decided that i'm gonna buy and restore a 74-77 mazda REPU... (MazdaREPU.com)

like so....
