How can you find what cars are in the State patrol motorpool? Should it be a citizens rights to know what the tax payers dollars are going towards?

So far I have seen A white Camaro, beige volvo, blue dodge caravan.

Good idea. All I've ever seen are domestic makes, so I never worried about getting busted by an import. How embarrassing would it be to get pulled over by a freaking ~volvo~? Or a dodge caravan for that matter...

They should be plated as police vehicles... other than that I don't know how else you could find out a total number.

The only ones ive ever seen are domestics. theres a couple dodge chargers near me, but i think they are for show, cause they just sit there, and i saw a dodge intrepid but other then that just impalas and crown vics

oh yeah, they have regular plates also.

and i have seen chargers, ford f-250's, and intrepids.

in my area there is/was a celica with full body kit, underglows etc. that was a cop. they would cruise the interstate and wait for another douche to try and race, and as soon as they took off they would pull them over.

but its pretty easy to identify them here. just look for capped intennas and if theres window tint you gotta look for the cut where the lights are. its pretty difficult at first but easy to id them once you know what to look for.

we also have an impala with 5% tint and 22inch rims here.

Found this & thought I'd pass it along because there's good advice in it...
How to avoid paying another traffic tax

Most of this stuff I've learned the hard way over the years...
#3 'get a good radar detector': I recently got one and, wow, I love it. There's quite a difference between being pretty sure that a stretch of highway is unwatched, and ~knowing~ it's unwatched.

i'm still trying to find a way to find what unmarked cars are in the motorpool.

They keep that info a secret so that criminals can't access it. If all the drugdealers know which cars they use for undercover busts, that would defeat the purpose, now wouldn't it?

I work for the city...I tell my friends which are unmarked. Make friends at the maintenance center...

That's where most of the undercover cars come from around me=drug dealers. Or seizures of other kinds. I've seen H2s, 300s, etc.

how bout the freedom of information act? I know it applys to federal govt, but not sure about state or local

Except for radars that are using instant-on and lasers.

Radar detectors only pick up the old radars that are constantly running radar. The new radars use an instant on feature and on turn on when cars pass.

Basically most of the stuff you read on the internet is retarded.

Don't think that the open stretch of highway is clear because your radar detector says it. Also laser can shoot you for miles and police officers are certified by sight to judge speed. The judge will more than likely side with the police officers discretion if you were in a situation where you were in court.

As for police cars, they can be any car they chose. They don't have to be government plated, either.

Think of all the cars they impound, if they seek the right approval and the car becomes the property of the town, they can put those cars in the fleet.

We have dodge chargers, dodge durangos, pt cruiser, mustangs, crown vics, impalas, etc.

thats entrapment isnt it??

Well, now, there's undercover cars for undercover cops & drugbusts, & then there's unmarked cars for highway patrol duty. There is definately a difference. An undercover car could be anything on the road, where an unmarked will be same type/model/series as standard issue w/out paint.

I think that using an undercover car for a traffic bust would kind of blow its cover....

LOL no.

People throw around words all the time that they don't understand.

"In jurisprudence, entrapment is a legal defense by which a defendant may argue that he or she should not be held criminally liable for actions which broke the law, because he/she was induced (or entrapped) by the police to commit those acts. For the defense to be successful, the defendant must demonstrate that the police induced an otherwise unwilling person to commit a crime. Entrapment is an issue that must be considered in designing sting operations, as well as vice operations, particularly those involving kerb crawling, prostitution and (In the United Kingdom) soliciting."

There's no inducement of crime. The police officer simply cruises the highway and if some fool revs at him, he revs back, and then the guy flies off, he didn't induce an otherwise unwilling person to commit a crime.

I certainly didn't mean to say that any radar detector is 100% infallible. The detector manufacturers are in an arms race w/ the police, so the new models do detect lasers & instant ons.

As far as the clear highway goes, I'll make a pass or two before getting retarded w/ the loud pedal. If I'm not attracting attention @ 20 over...safe to say no one's watching.

We have dodge chargers, dodge durangos, pt cruiser, mustangs, crown vics, impalas, etc.

"We"? Uh-oh....

exactly why i was asking...

I wasn't insinuating that you were making a statement.

I was laughing at the fact that most uneducated assclowns on the internet come up with defenses like that which they don't even understand.

That like jumbo posted about radar detectors is stupid as well. You start to rely on the detector as opposed to paying attention to traffic flows, braking patterns, etc. to warn you that theres a police officer up ahead. My radar detector sits in my glove box, disconnected.

The detector manufacturers would like you to think they're in an arms race. They're not. They're governed by legislation which is exactly why effective tools, like radar jammers, are illegal. Detectors are garbage for the most part. There's two or three models out there that are decent (V1 and Passport - some design/original creator) but they don't prevent speedy tickets. That whole rocky mountain or smokey mountain site is a bunch of bullshit and a hoax, if you've ever read that.

Its an advertising term called hype or humbug. PT Barnum perfected that years before these clowns, spouting the benefits of radar detectors, did.

The effective stuff is illegal.

As for the "we" I meant my town and neighboring towns. I'm not a police officer, although I have made a few friends through the gym and also through knowing some officers before they joined the force.

I know how rare it is for officers to run "moving radar" and if they are, they're just fishing for stupid people and not attempting to be stealthy. They rather you know they're there so you slow down, then to actually pop you. Think of how many speeders they see a day. Grab a few and ticket them, scare the rest.
