GT5 FTW
I have a b18c1 in my eg hatch with an exhaust that goes something like this:
DC sports 1 piece ceramic coated header
custom 2.75" all the way back - no cat
one magnaflow resonator right after the flex-pipe
one cheap what i would guess is a glasspack resonator
then a cheap 20-30 dollar turbo muffler

I hate the raspyness, hence the two resonators. However i think its still a little too raspy for me and i think the turbo muffler is to blame. I was wondering what the best sounding (low, no rasp, quiet) turbo muffler is for this engine, mind you, keep it stock looking (no shiny crap).

Use a cat and it will get rid of the raspyness. Might take a little hit in performance but if its worth it to you to get rid of the raspyness that will do it.

I am interested for an answer for this myself. This is my first Honda and I always swore to myself that if I were ever to drive a Honda it would not sound loud and farty and ricey. Is there any low relatively quiet, tasteful sounding muffler or exhaust system that anyone has heard?

I live in Alabama, its illegal to use a cat. =P

Also, i plan on supercharging this setup later, so i want to keep the restriction as low as possible while maintaining a quiet and or not raspy sound.

I have the Apexi WS2 with a Hytech header on mine and it sounds excellent. I have always believed that oval mufflers (WS2, ExMag, etc) sound better. They may not flow better but it definitely sounds better.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I was thinking something more around 100-200 dollars, also i dont think they have a 2.75" in that, correct me if I'm wrong.

Anything 2.75" will be custom; as the common sizes(mufflers, cats, resonators, piping) are 2, 2.25, 2.5, and 3"

Iunno, it just seemed right, its not 3" which i think is too big and 2.5 just looks a little small.

For many all-motor builds, 2.5" is plenty. On stock-ish/bolt-on motors, 2.25" is common.

Yeah, I guess so...but then, like someone else pointed out, it's either going to have to narrow or widen to fit any of the typical mufflers. On my Integra I've got 2 1/4" stainless pipe, with a 18" Magnaflow resonator, and then an oval-shaped straight-through Magnaflow muffler. It sounds perfect in my opinion, nice low town, never raspy. I am still using the factory cat though, so that might have something to do with it as well.

And what's this about cats being illegal where you live?

Anyways, whatever you get, I'd suggest an oval-shaped muffler that's well resonated, that's going to be your best bet. Magnaflow and Apex'i both make some decent ones.

Lol, about the cats, it was a joke. I was saying that because out of all of my friends, only about 10% have cats, and thats because they have untouched cars.

i would go with
riffled resonator 24"
round magnaflow 4"x24"
and a flowmaster oval

keep the 2.75" piping but use 2.5" mufflers/resonator.

Ah, gotcha...I think it does make a big difference though, as far as the raspiness and general volume of the exhaust is concerned.

Do you just have custom pipe straight from your header collecter back? Or are you using some kind of test pipe?

I had the system built at my local muffler shop, they are quite good at what they do. Its all mandrel bent and welded perfectly. it goes from the header, to the flexpipe, to the magnaflow res, to the crappy ?? brand res, to the crappy ?? brand turbo muffler

I'm telling you that the cat that's missing is what is causing your raspyness. I had no cat on my car then put one on and it made it sound WAY better with the same muffler. Its either get a cat or 4 resonators or just deal with the noise because you are too stubborn to listen to us and get a cat.

I'm not stubborn, I'm just thinking ahead to when i supercharge it, If a cat wasn't so much back pressure i would so do that.

BTW im going to start a new thread for Posting pics of your exhaust systems. ill post some of mine.

I would go with Greddy, I have a B18C1 and I have Greddy everything from the header down to the muffler which is Greddy EVO-2. I get people complimenting me on my cars sound all the time.
