800 bucks and dont know what to do to my b20 teggy

i have $800 and a jdm b20b in my teg with basic bolt ons including, arp headstuds, block guard, 4.2.1 header, 3" exhaust, cold air intake, and a fuel pressure reg. what can i do to help my hp with 800? there way to many options and i dont know which one to take..turbo, vtec head, nirous or build to high compresion. its my daily and i want it quicker. HELP asap PLEASE!!!!

save your money. if you are into racing, you'll need it down the road.

if it truly is burning a hole in your pocket, i say LSD, good tires, upgrade the suspension. something along those lines. maybe even some new brakes.
 
yeah but i want speeeeedddd lol. no really for the track just everyday driving. and id love to do the naaaazzzzz but people are saying that it would kill my engine:(
 
one word vtec yeah man get a b16 head and go b20 vtec it will make your top end so much faster
 
+1 for a vtec head. You don't need to build, just keep the rev's under control
 
A stock gsr computer is going to rev out to 8200 rpm's, which is more than the stock b20 can handle. Plus, a b20 is larger than a b18c1, which means it gets more air, and hence, needs more fuel. I think a p28 ecu with a custom tune would suite you best.
 
ok ok. is the b20/vtec gona have a beter hp gain then lets say 10psi boost? that was the rout i was going but im up for anything.
 
hell no... 10 psi of boost on a b20 will get you roughly 250-300whp depending on setup/tune. A b20/vtec will yeild 160-170 at the wheels stock.

10 psi wont get that much power. maybe 240 or so, but nowhere near 300. if you are wanting speed for daily driving, just get a good tune and a few bolt ons. i also suggest going to a driving school. that will make you faster than any mod could ever do.
 
Really? people make that much on boosted ls's. Why not a b20?
 
well my b20 has stock internals so if its anything like the ls there good for 270-300hp on stock bottom end. i wouldnt want to risk it anymore then 13 max 8-10 everyday. well if its that much more power gain then im going to turbo it. im going for a fast car so its sounding like boooooosssssttttt

well right now i have the ls tranny with a stage 3 puck clutch and 9lb flywheel. gsr tranny would be nice but i just got my ls rebuilt so im going to run that for a bit. as for the exhaust i know that was alittl exessive but my buddy had 3" on his single slam jrsc and it did quite well so i figured bigger motor, more boost so i would run it also. puting gsr pistons in a b20 is the same concept as b16 pistons in a b18 right? higher compresion? also is the block gaurd a good thing to have on a b20 or is it pointless?

Short gears are always better. For boost, just swap in a LS final drive.

I vote VTEC head, or just camshafts for your B20(like Crower or Crane)+tune, or transmission.

Keep in mind he just had the tranny rebuilt and has a decent clutch and flywheel, an LS Tranny would be just fine with a small amount of boost, no need in replacing his tranny again if you ask me.
 
Well, he did ask what he can do to improve the performance; and replacing the transmission is one of them. I've also suggested some other things he can do; keeping the $800 limit in mind(anything you replace could be resold anyways).

Also, his car isn't boosted right now; so a better transmission would indefinitely make a noticeable difference.
