Keep in mind, if you have a Delsol S, you only have like 106 CRANK hp, so you'd be looking for a nearly 70% Increase in engine power, that is VERY extreme.

If you have an SI at 125ish crank HP you have an engine that will be able to handle a decent amount of boost on stock internals. Again to get an aditional 50-75WHP you are looking at 200 Crank HP which will require Serious engine management, A more agressive clutch, and a decent turbo setup which can very quickly approach $2000 in total cost (Unless you are looking for a VERY nasty swap like

I don't mean to shatter your dreams, just trying to be realistic.

i got a d16z6 vtec my bro drives a 04 spec-v and what kind of additional pwer do you think i could get out of my engine cuz im tired pf having the slowest car in the family

Um, hate to break it to you - your brother will take off on you regardless of 75 extra hp. SE-R's have gobs of low-end torque, something a D-series will never have. Want to beat him off the line - get a B-series with an LSD and a high RPM 2-step rev limiter. ;)

Just save you $$$ for the swap.

ummm... Ya with a turbo on a z6 pushing about 10psi through a t3 50 trim his bro won't take off on him... He will spin through 1st and part way through second but his bro won't be able to take off on him. He will SMOKE his bro every time. 200whp is not really all that unrealistic on a stock z6 with only 96k. A stock SER Spec V would run about 15.4ish in the 1/4 mile and I ran a 14.3 on 10psi with my z6 and a t3. The engine management is not really that serious. A quick street tune for a base map then dyno tune for extra hp.

Realistically speaking though, if hes planning a swap - he should just wait. Of course he'll catch up with him, but an SE-R is gonna pull away quicker than he will with a turbo D16.

Sure for the 1st 50 feet. I do agree though that if the guy is planning a swap he should just take the cash from the turbo kit that he wants and put it towards that. There's no point in having a turbo d16 then swapping to a slower motor unless he swaps to a type r of course.

i think this guy needs to relax, hes just gonna rush into something cuz 1 minute he wants motor swap then next a turbo. a nice turbo setup cost good bones, just take your licks for now until you have enough for either a good kit with managment or a nice swap. if i recall your like 16 you deff dont need a 13sec car. take a chill pill its not the end of the world cuz your old brother(im assuming) with more money has a faster car...

but the thing is im 17 nd hes 18 yeah i take off on him on the line he smokes thru 1st 2nd and chirps third with new tires (but burns half way thru with a little worn tire (its a spec it has like 250 ft-lbs of tourque at like 5k or somthing like that(hes tuned it a few time i/h/e/ss) but he pases me and a 40 roll we are even till i hit about half way thru 4th. im not looking for a 13 sec car till i have a back up car and my car is a track car (which i plan on doing) im not going to be speeding around the town (i only do that on the highways at like 2 in the morn and even then i only hit about 110) i just would just like to have the power if i do wanna take it to the drag strip (we only have a 1/8 mile in sc) but yeah would it just be better if i bought a turbo from a stock car and parted a kit but people at the show zone (a tuner shop here) said it wouldnt be worth the money cuz ill have to take all the time to tune it and make the intercooler piping myself and stuff like that so im just looking for a kit (and i wanna be able to show off my car to my friends (most people cal it a del SLOW til they line up next to me)
but thanks for your imput ill prob just save for the swap and i was thinging type r but i dont know how much that would cost so i dont know how much i need.

and i only have a part time job makin 11 an hour till the summer so the cheapest (well best for my money) would be best but thanks

your 17, dont you have better things to spend money on all that power is just going to get you in trouble. if you wanna go fast for cheap a del slow s probably wasnt the right choice for you, o yeah a type r swap have fun its like 3k+, and i can tell you have no ability to do anything for yourself so try 6+ hours of labor charge

and i dont know how many times you were told this but ill say it again

CHEAP AND FAST DONT MIX

what else would have have to spen dmoney on im 17 and live with my parents and as i told you my car will be a track car when i swap it and i am mechanically inclined just not as much as most of the people out there and i didnt the cheapest thats why i said the best for my money. and the del sol is an si not s

put it on a 50shot of nitrous and be done with it, theres the cheapest for your money, your gonna swap the motor so trash it anyway

im not going nitrous (i think its too dangerous) i want to turbo and if your not going to help me find a good site or place thats sells them then thank you anyway but i dont need anyones opinion i just wanted help finding a dealer

Try Turbo Kits for Acura, BMW, Ford, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Lexus & VW, they have kits for pretty much any Honda application. They also have plenty of kits on eBay, but I wouldn't trust the quality on those.

Seriously though, to get a decent turbo setup you need to spend about $2,000. If you plan on swapping your motor in the near future then I think it's pretty pointless to spend that much money on a turbo setup specific to your current motor.

If you can afford to spend $2,000 on a turbo kit right now, then you can probably afford to swap your motor right now. Why are you wanting to wait until it hits 200k miles? If you're at 96k right now then your motor needs a new timing belt and water pump anyway, which is going to run you about $300 to $400, so you might as well be putting that towards a swap too.

Then search. If you don't want anyone's opinion, then why ask?

you're 17. Save the money for a while. Get a lot of seat time at a track. Learn to drive what you have.

And stop doing 110 on the highways at 2 in the morning. F****** moron. Do you know how many teenagers "just out cruising" on the freeways I've had to scrape into the back of an ambulance?

Learn to drive what you have in a safe manner and place before you start stuffing more power into the equation.

John

me and my brother are going to the track this weekend and im gonna try to race but i dont know if i can but thank you for the advice it was really helpful ill stop doing 110 on the high way
