i have a p06 in an lx with a jdm d15b... i'm about to install the vtec solanoid and im' pretty sure this isn't a vtec ecu...what should i do?!

find the right ECU, chip that one, or buy a chipped one thats programmed for it.
phearable.nethas some good stuff for it.
When my buddy needed to tune his build he got his chipping stuff from them and it went pretty well.

I have a chipped P06 converted to VTEC running Mugen program (VTEC hits @4400 RPM and rev limit 9900) PM sent on price shipped!

Sounds pretty useless for this guys application if you ask me.
Theres a reason theres a rev limit.
And that Mugen program is probably just richer fuel maps and advanced timing thats not really programmed for his?
So what are the specs on the Cam or Cams if this run for a B series, H, or even F "Mugen" tune.

Or is it really for a d15 with minor mods or no mods

like most chipped ECU's they have a base map (fuel/timing) based on Mugen setup, it has the header pin so it can be tuned, as you should do with any swap/build if you want the most out of your specific build. I didn't load the base map......I got for a D16Z6 (similar to D15B) but ended up doing an LS/VTEC build and am running chipped P30.

A header pin so i can be tuned?
Wouldn't a wideband O2 be more useful.
Or is this header pin allow you to actively retune the chip on the ECU and what else would you need to do it?

The only problem is the guy is most likely running a stock motor, and I have never been font og those ridiculously high rev limiters that people chip and ECU for and sell them to people with stock engines. The stock valvetrain is not meant to rev that high, nor is the compression, much less a camshaft setup there to assist in getting that power the chip was designed for.

I just laugh at the people that buy them and think one day the higher their engine revs the more power it makes. Then destroy their engine doing something stupid.

Most correctly chipped ECU's are NOT based on Mugen or whatever; they're done on a dyno, pass experience, or street with a wideband O2 sensor.

Probably not even a real Mugen anyways; as they did complete ECU work and not just chips.

You can just get it socketed; you can swap out the chips and what not. A socketing kit cost like $20-30 from Moates.net, then Xenocron sells a VTEC conversion kit(or you can send the ECU to Xenocron and he'll do everything).

no the header pin allows for easy tuning on a dyno by a tuner based on your setup. nothing else would need to be done. I agree that is correct I would never take it that high! you can always run MSD with a set rev limit or get it reset to a lower RPM

you are right! I wasn't implying that is it a "Real Mugen" chip or that most base maps are done from the Mugen setup but this chip is a copy of that base map. read my post I also highly recommend getting your ECU retuned on a dyno by a profeesional tuner. And yes it can be changed with another chip. If he (or anyone) buys this ECU, there is no down time of waiting for it to be socketed and chipped by Phearable, Xenocron, or whoever.

by the way I didn't see you at the UI meet in Durham on Saturday!

thanks for all the info guys i think i'm gonna send my ecu in to phearable and have them chip it for vtec.. it's pretty cheap and i was thinking about just getting a p28..but i didn't want the z6 basemaps since it's the 1.6l and i have the 1.5l. any suggestions about turbos? i know it's safe to boost it about 6-7psi on stock internals...

Ah OK, I definitely interpreted/read that wrong.

Car no run=can't make it(Civic running rough and idle not fixed...still trying to figure out what it is). And I'm not taking my POS Accord either. lol. I was in Greensboro instead. My cousin and I were about to go with his Civic but we forgot and ended up installing a header in his car instead.

Hopefully I'll make it to the next meet.
