I swapped a b16a2 into a 1997 civic ex everything is hooked up correctly but motor turns over and wont start? Any one knows where to start trouble shooting?

More info, when i turn the key i hear the pressure or something building up followed by a click.
then i try to start it, it turns over as if it was going to start and then it kinda pops not like an extreme pop but a little, sounds like a weak weak back fire or something not loud at all.
There are no leaks on the bottom of the car.

The sound you hear is the fuel pump priming the lines typically

Spark plug wire order correct?
Check for spark?
All fuses ok?

Lean back and listen under your back seat and you should definatly hear the fuel pump. If it doesnt prime, it's probably the main relay.

OK GOOD NEWS!!!!
AFTER SPRAYING STARTED FLUID INSIDE OF THE INTAKE AND PUTTING FUEL INJECTION CLEANER INSIDE MY GAS TANK THE CAR STARTS AND RUNS!!!

BUT my headers arent connected to my cat. but the sensor on my cat is plugged in.

THERE is white smoke coming from the engine, i assume its coming from my headers since they arent connected to my cat.

There is a rough rough idle with some backfiring, running to rich?
its just running really rough with no check engine light.
Help =(

more notes, The engine Idles at 600-800 rpms as it should as well. It just run like a load of crap, when i step on the gas its i guess boggy? like it sounds like shit and then dies. When i turn the steering wheel, powersteering, it dies or chokes pretty bad.

sounds like maybe your firing order could be wrong cause it is possible or a valve lash could be to tight. check compression in all cylanders

My wires are hooked up like this

Valve lash? can you expand a little bit on that.

Also could it be possible that my alt power strer. ac belt and on too tight?

If it sounds boggy and backfires its probably just an o2 sensor.

Rough running and pop noises could be coming from bad timing, check that as well. My Supra's timing is off a bit right now and it likes to pop and crackle, comes from the valves not being fully closed during the spark.

Valve lash means the amount of space between the rocker assembly and the top of the valve. Too loose and it rattles like crazy, too tight and its going to affect the amount of lift the cam is giving and general cause a ton of friction and wear. Make sure your valve lash is set correctly, its a pretty easy job just be patient about it.

Hmm it only back fires at start, takes a slow time to gain steady smoth idle. i think im going to just take it to a mechanic. i dont want to mess anything up.

could also be off a tooth... first time i did my timing i was 2 teeth off and it studdered really bad and ran like shit.. had no power check it out

yea see im thinking its the timing, because it is studdering, im taking it to a shop to get timing belt and water pump replaced since i didnt do that when the motor was out. didnt have the tools for the underdrive pulley. i did a really clean no CEL swap so it has to be something with timing. compression checks were good.

I Need my Vtec Oil Pressure Switch Lee7 that I paid for on last Sat, I have been trying to contact you all week, Please check your Email and call me. I need this part by Thursday.
