Well, the title basically states my dilemma.

I'm going to be building up a B18A1 and I'm debating over which pistons I should go for.

any suggestions or information that would lead to one or the other?

Is it a straight B18A1 or an LS/Vtec? What are you building the engine for? For boost or N/A? I think this is why no one has answered you and you posted this on the 23rd.

Go here: Honda, Acura Tech Website, tutorials, tuning and HOW-TO's. Drag racing, street racing, road racing - C-speedracing.com

Plug in your information and figure out your compression ratio, and you can kinda go off of that. Of course CTR pistons have a higher dome than the ITR, so you can expect a higher CR.

B18A1 w/ stock pistons: 9.2:1 CR
B18A1 w/ CTR pistons: 11.4:1 CR
B18A1 w/ USDM ITR pistons: 10.3:1 CR
B18A1 w/ JDM ITR pistons: 10.8:1 CR

Well, here's some background information then,

I have a 1991 Integra with factory B18A1.

I dont like how slow it is now, however I dont wanna sacrafice fuel economy for power.

It's my daily driver but I want it to be a bit more fun. I'm aiming for 300whp and still be daily drivable

I'm most likely gonna go LS/VTEC and boost, probably no more than 8 psi.

I was just lookin around hmotorsonline and I happened to see CTR and ITR pistons, complete sets for $169 and I thought that was a damn good deal.

I know that boost and higher compression pistons isn't that great of an idea and you really want lower or stock compression on boost.

sorry I didn't include information

This is my 2nd engine build, first build was a D16Y8 + boost

You can have a higher compression ratio with boost, but there is less room for error with your tune. I mean, your tune has to be on point...

If you're only planning on running 8 psi, you should be fine with your stock pistons and have a CR of 9.2:1. I don't know your money situation, but you should at least use a block guard, if you don't have the block sleeved.

The Vtec head you use will also play a factor in your compression ratio due to combustion chamber volume.

B18A1 w/ stock pistons and stock head: 9.2:1 CR
B18A1 w/ stock pistons and B16A head: 9.5:1 CR
B18A1 w/ stock pistons and B17A head: 9.5:1 CR
B18A1 w/ stock pistons and B18C head: 9.7:1 CR

Also using a thicker head gasket will lower your CR a couple points also.

Around 10:1CR is fine for boost. Highest I've seen is 11.5:1 in a some 300-400whp GSR. You can get away with moderate compression as long as you get a very good tune.

That's what I said.... I have a stock JDM B16A with 10.4:1 CR w/ a turbo and Hondata S200.... Making 280 whp.
