I've had one in my mini fridge for like 6 or so months now and I'm eating it atm. It's been pretty much frozen, so I've assumed it's been well preserved. It tastes fine, suppose I'll find out tomorrow.

i'm sure it will be fine. but if it's bad, i'm sure you will find out way before tomorrow. ^_^

theres usually enough shit in those things to keep them for YEARS at room temp
6 months in a fridge im sure youll be fine

Protein bars and other nutrition bars expire about three weeks before you buy them.

At least that's what they taste like.

Some of the bars I have bought have had dates on them. I think a year maybe? Next time your in GNC ask one of the clerks.

Detour bars are the win

Detour bars are high in saturated fat, as are many of the protein bars.

To answer the original question, protein bars do have an expiration date - it should be printed in black ink right on the package.

With that said, its a best eaten buy sort of date and you can buy expired bars on ebay for a fraction of the MSRP. When a health food shop was going out of business near me, I bought a couple boxes of expired Myoplex bars for about $6 each when they were normally around $30 a box.

Other supplements, like creatine break down and deteriorate - especially in liquid form if they're stored for long periods of time. So those sort of items are pretty pointless because they'll be no wear near as effective as non-expired versions.

cliff notes;

eat the bar.

Well I was starving and chowed that sucker down before I even finished typing the original post last night. Couldn't find a date on it and I feel fine today lol. My digestive system > 6 month old food. I'm thinking raw meat next. ^_^

I can eat raw chicken and raw meat, old protein all day long. No digestive problem's at all.

Now get me some milk, cheese, or any food in high saturated fat like deep fried stuff, and I'll be runninnnnng to the shitter.

I go through a gallon of skim milk in a week and it doesn't bother me very much, but it takes an extremely long time to digest - where I'll be burping dairy products up 4 hours after ingestion. I think I might be mildly lactose in tolerate, which is funny when yogurt and milk are one of my favorite foods and drinks.

Right now I'm sick as hell and I know what you're saying about being sent straight to the shitter.

That was me three days ago. I was puking and shitting like it was going out of style.

I eat these... taste great and a good breakfast supplement. I don't eat protein bars, because they are tough as hell, and taste like feet. So i use the protein shakes instead :) And to answer your question... If something expires 6 months after sold, I think it would be good for another month or three.

I drink massive quantities of milk too. No problems here though. My favorites are spicy food. I thought I had an iron stomach. Acid reflux and ulcers have recently owned me.

As far as protein, I drink Nectar shakes. No fat, No carbs, 20+g of protein per serving, and its fruit flavored. I was sick of chocolate, vanilla, and peanut butter.
