just put a b18b1 LS in my ek hatch

when i bought the motor, it was still in the sellers car, and it ran perfect, no smoke.

my car now smokes after idle when its fully warmed up. no smoke during hard driving conditions. just idle.

any ideas?

TIA

pcv valve is good

i also want to make a note according to the first post

it doesnt smoke at idle, it smokes after i give it gas after idling for a little bit at a red light etc.

im pretty sure it is, its not coolant because i def know what that smells like, its whiteish color, i cant tell if its blueish or not though

White is coolant. Oil will be blue, obviously blue. Did you remove the intake manifold when you did the swap?

i still cant figure out whats wrong with the engine.

did a leakdown test, all within 4-8% leakage

did a compression test, steady across all 4 cyl

changed the pcv valve

anything else i should do?

:( sigh

the valve stem seals wont make the leakdown numbers higher?

and also, its burning oil in all 4 cylinders, because there is oil deposit on top of all 4 pistons when i took the spark plug out.
what are the chances that all the valve stem seals on all 4 cyl failed?

the only thing i can think of is oil is somehow getting into the intake manifold because all 4 is burning oil.

sorry for all the newbie questions :)

The only way that oil would be in the intake would be through the PCV.
Pull your intake mani, if there's oil in it, then it's the PCV, if it's clean, its your valve stem seals. While the intake mani is off, you can look at the valve stems to make sure.

what did you do to the fuel system,, is it running rich? to much gas will give you a white smoke even after it is warmed up, you wont see it while driving

also, did you bypass your cat or gut your cat, a factory tune doesnt burn all the gas , normally the cat will catch the extra so you wont see it comeing out of the tail pipe.

is the back of you car getting little black spots

the car is running stock LS ecu right now, car has no cat, 2.5in header back. yes the car is gettin carbon on the back.

its def oil burning because the smell is oil...and it smells rich lol, but oil is def being burned up

however it doesnt burn enough for me to notice on the dipstick

from what my friends are telling me, if valve stem seals are shot, it usually blows smoke at cold startup, or any startup.

my car doesnt smoke at startups

You sure it's not just running rich?

im almost positive, the car is running on stock ecu, with no cat, ive had other cars with no cats and it doesnt smoke like that.

and theres oil deposits on top of the piston

Any CEL's?
How old is the o2 sensor?

If you're sure it's not just rich, it could also be the head gasket or the valve cover seals on the spark plug tubes, but that usually causes a misfire if it's leaking down into the cylinder.

i have a code for evap voltage too high, dont know if that has anything to do with it.

the o2 sensors are brand new, just replaced them 500 miles ago, no O2 CELs
