I have 94 cx hatch with D15b8 engine (70hp) and looking to get something more decent.Question would be : what engine+tranny combo would be the easiest to drop in?I mean no messing with axels, vtec harnesses, etc.I believe engine and tranny mounts cannot be avoided to buy. What's your opinion? Thanks in advance

buy you a obd1 dohc zc from jdmtigerjapanese.com for 550 dollars plus 160 shipping, you can use you old tranny but you will need to extend the map sensor wires and either buy a p29 or have a p06 chipped!

jdm vtec d15b just run 2 wirse no big deal and can use all your stock parts tranny mounts ect ect

or a d16z6. pretty cheap and easy. all you would need to do is change the drivers side mount, get a p28 ecu, and run two wires same as the d15b but i agree its no big deal. you can use your tranny too

no need to change the mount its going in a 5th gen

I just wanted to add that a motor and transmission work as a team. If you pair a motor with a transmission that's not geared to work with the characteristics of the motor you won't get the full potential of the motor.

Like everyone else said, you can easily swap a D15 VTEC or D16Z6 into your car and re-use your CX tranny, and yes, it will be more peppy than with the old 70hp clunker, but the best case scenario would be to also swap in an EX or Si tranny, which has shorter gears and will help with acceleration.

i dont know if the b8 mount is different but i swapped a z6 into my 93 hatch that had a b7 and i had to take the drivers side mount from the b7 and put it onto the z6 so id think the b8 would be the same
