i got a 90 accord lx and i know the h22 is basicly a direct drop in. how ever i was wondering what would be better, ive heard the h23's are also good especaily if you use an h22 head , more torque and better hp however would it be the same as an h22 swap(drop in) or alot of extra fabrications?? and if any thing could i fit a k20 in, would it take alot of modding, and would it even be worth it??

Best solution for the money would be to buy an H22 long block and an ECU unless you know somebody with an H23/H22 combo that you can get for a good price. You should be able to get an H22 with an ECU for less than $1500 and drop it right in. I put an H22 in a 91 Accord DX for one of my friends using the stock transmission and after that I never beat him once with my mildly modified GSR. Throw in an H22 transmission and it is even faster..

well i already know if i go for the h22 im gonna get the euro type r h22 it has about 20 hp more and a few more lbs of tq.

I know what the specs are on the Euro R.. If you want to waste $1500-2k go right ahead, but you can build a JDM H22A for a lot less than the Euro R motor and make more power. Most of that difference is in the cams and intake manifold anyhow.. but do what you wish.

The Euro R is more powerful, but what I'm saying is the price difference between the two is so much that you can build a regular H22 to have more power than the Euro R for less money.

ok and how would i go about droping the auto tranny and switching it to manual other than the transmission, clutch pedal, shifter, and the link cables

so the basic h22 is still better than the euro?? ok so what year h22 fits into the 90 accord??

Any year H22 fits, they're all the same shape. Fitment is not the problem, the problem is the wiring. If you use an OBD1 motor it will be much easier to install. You can use the Type S with the 20 more horses, but it's OBD2, so you'd need to either be really good at wiring, pay somebody who's really good at wiring to install it for you, or buy a conversion harness.

Like the others said, you can build the regular H22 up to better than Type S specs for less money, so I really see no point in buying it, unless it's just for the "bling" factor.

And by the way, it seems like you don't really know a whole lot about the H22 swap yourself, so I'd probably lay off on giving the other guy swap advice....
