Watanabe Whore!!!
Rest In Peace
I'm so pissed.....

and yet happy....:p

Finally got the Z on the road...then it died...bad fuel injector relay, cleaned it up, drove it about a mile...car dies again...so had to use AAA twice.

got tired of chasing wires and relays...went threw nearly the whole car...and gave up.

Ripped the fuel injection system completely out of the car...

ripped the carbs from the other car I bought a while ago...slapped them in...and still no spark.

went thru the entire ignition system again....found nothing.

on a whim, I just went to the parts store and bought a new coil....and bang....the zappers got juice.:D

just got to clean up some routing of hoses and wires, and connect the throttle and choke cable....then I can move on and get the carbs tuned and finish some more brake upgrades....

I might make the drift event next monday after all....whooohooo:)

weber 40 dcoe's, canon manifold, tuned by Bob Sharp Racing in 1978, and needs a full cleaning and rebuild(winter project #39)

:ph34r::ph34r::ph34r::ph34r::ph34r::ph34r::ph34r::ph34r::ph34r:

thats cuz you cache them, but they are showing up now.

don't know...still haven't drove it yet.

should be around the same...if not more power.

when I ported the head I bored out the intakes to 35mm, and the manifold is about 35mm, but the carbs are 40mm with a 30mm venturi... I might trade them off later down the road for some 45's or 50's... or do the insane...and use them as ITB's with the haltech FI system I have, then hook them up with a surge tank and boost them..... I think the sickest vid I've seen was a boosted carbed datsun.

and these will breath a little better with the hooker competition header I just tossed on the car, along with the dual pipes back with 4 cherry bombs....

Are those extra injectors on the intake, or is that for water/meth?
Also how does the surge tank setup work?

precharge injectors...but not hooked up electrically for a pulse. Just to add a little more fuel to the boost. Seeing how there are two FPR's hooked to them.

And for carbs, the inlets needs to be sealed to hold the boost so it goes into the engine...duhhh... but also with carbs...at the point where the engine sucks at - psi, to where it transitions to boost (+ psi) the turbulence or surge... sputters airflow at the venturis. So it helps to keep all cylinders with the same air pressure and smooths it out. All intakes that you see on normal cars nowdays...are literally surge tanks. They optimize all cylinders to get the same airflow, and pressure so you don't get a dead cylinder with no air for one or two revs of the crank. Which could cause major problems...

Tweek them out, and your making better power. custom intake's are a dime a dozen, but the ones with R&D are worth the money. All the intake's you see on the honda engine's...are all R&D'ed for a set performance for fuel economy, aftermarket intakes are for more performance to rob from the MPG's....but adds power. Full blown R&D'ed intakes from companies like HKS set up for carb's for performance...nearly priceless. I'd be lucky to find that intake in Japan for under $800...and I've kept my eye out for them.

Sad thing about carbs though...is they are not good for boost over 8 psi....that's what the pre-injectors are for...

wow, I'd sort out the FI if you're really gonna boost it. That setup seems overly expensive and complicated only to max out at 8 psi.

next spring the Z will get the haltech with the other engine I pulled from the white Z. I'm hunting 500hp with it's set up. And these carbs will find it's way back to the yellow Z.

don't let 8 psi fool ya.....a properly built engine can make gobs of power with no boost....some carbs like the SK's can be good up to 12 psi, and there is also the newer ITB's that can boost all the way up til your out of block or piston rods.... like these....

Airjockie what kind of gas milage do those things get with normal driving, gunning it sometimes and being easy on it?
