RETIRED
winter beater search is over.

after trying forever to find a cheapo beater, i gave up and just went to the local used dealer lot.

picked up a 2000 dakota sport with the v8 magnum, 72k on it for 8k.
needs tires and brakes, and they are doing all that before i pick it up, so i'll have brand new tires and brakes on it.
motor bay was mint... real clean.
no accidents... bolts are all still painted over.
body is straight.
no rust.
has an aftermarket exhaust on it... flowmaster or something. sounds pretty mean. lol
bed and body has some scratches and a couple minor dents, but whatever... i don't really care. inside isn't the prettiest, but its good enough. has some wear spots and a couple cigarette burns... oh well.
it will suit me well for a work truck and a winter vehicle.

its like a dark blue/black... i don't know. it was dark and i suck at colors.

Nice purchase. It'll come in handy having a house now.

6 or the 8 cyl? My old boss had a 99 with the 318 in it. He could roast the tires no problem.

yeah, the v8 magnum. i think its the 318.

pretty much, this truck.... (random internet pic).

i think its a little darker, and mine doens't have a tonneu cover.

Does yours come with the ram horn window sticker on the sliding rear window? If that thing has a locker it will leave 2 nice strips down the road. With the 318 that truck is pretty much like a fullsized truck just smaller. It will tow almost as much as a 1500 Ram of that era would.

i didn't notice any sticker. not sure if its posi or not. the sales guy didn't know too much about the truck (they just got it in 3 or 4 days ago on trade)

I think it will be good for me.

i really wanted a tacoma, but everyone wants like 80 grand for their 92 with 275k on it. fuckers must be made out of boobs or something.

I was referring to that picture you posted if you look at the rear window its got the Ram stick.

Toyotas have the best resale value i think.. my stepdad picked up a '03 4Runner w/ 30k on it for $13k, owned by a mechanic.. pretty good deal seeing others wanted like $18-20k

Nice, enjoy, although I really can't see you driving a truck. lol.

I suggest a tonneau cover ASAP if its sitting in your driveway - shoveling snow out of it will suck. Hit up redmans; ~$200 bucks at best and it'll save your back and frustration level.

tonneau covers are great. also stops people from looking into your bed to see if anything good is in there.

sweeet deal B. congrats on the new truck. too bad ya got the 4wd or else id tell ya to bag that bitch. ahh well its all good tho. its still a minitruck :)

2wd is useless for me. i might as well drive the M around in the winter. I have 0 desire to modify it. its going to be my work horse and winter driver.

i'll definitely look into the cover... i might get one of those plastic things with the pistons that lift it up. toneaus are so annoying to unbutton all the time.

clayton, i'm not even picking it up until monday or tuesday (as they need to do the brakes and new tires on it before i pick it up, as well as detail it and do their safety check for anything else that it might need)

that, and it doesn't have a trailer hitch IIRC. its not ready to tow anything

Caution with the fiberglass tops, they suck if whatever you're loading doesn't fit into the bed itself. It takes me all of 45 seconds to rollup my tonneau and put the supports in the back seat, vice versa for putting it back on...
