Last time I had this problem I put in a new ignitor, still wouldn't start. New Coil, still wouldn't start. Complete new distributor, still wouldn't start. Turned out my ECU decided to fry itself. I tried a friend's ECU and it started up fine. Not saying your ECU is fried just that if you replace the ignitor and coil and it still won't start, try your buddies ECU or something and see if that helps.

Oh, don't forget to unplugged the battery to reset the ECU if you replace the ignitor or coil because the code stays in the ecu until you reset it.

i have a extra ecu and i did try it out but i didnt reset it .ill try it out tomorrow, car has been sitting up for a year and im trying to get it running !! if i can fix this hopefully itll be on the road soon.....

Usually a distributor will fix the problem although the end result in that troubleshooting guide ends up at the ECU.. since you have a spare ECU try it out and see what happens, and if you still get a no start go for the distributor.

sorry it took so long, working crazy hours...well, i bought a new distributor and installed it , still code 15 and i noticed code 20 as well. the car is a 91 crx hf with an 88 si engine, d16a6, with the hf engine harness and ecu. i have a 88 si ecu that it tried but still nothing. anyone got any ideas cause im all out........

Did you reset the ECU after you replaced the dizzy? Is it still not starting as well?

i disconected the battery while i removed the old distributor and installed the new one, that should have reset it, code 20 showed up as soon as i turned the key in the on position... code 15 didnt show up untill i turned the motor over for about 3 sec. i checked all my connections and fuses and everything is good. still dont know what code 20 is either!!!

Code 20 is the Electrical Load Detector circuit fault which is a component in your engine bay fuse box. Usually that code is triggered by a short somewhere in your engine bay wiring harness.. and based on the fact it comes on instantly with the key on I would suspect there is probably a shorted/pinched/exposed wire somewhere causing it to come on.

did you do the swap? are you sure it has the HF engine harness on it? - this problem will happen every time if you try to use the Si engine harness in the HF chassis - the Si engine harness has the igniter wire (code 15) in the passenger side connector at the firewall - the HF engine harness, as well as the chassis harness, has the igniter wire in the driver's side connector at the firewall - what are the wire colors on the engine harness side at the driver's side 8-wire round connector? HF harness should be red, yellow, brown, light blue, second yellow, blue/yellow, yellow/black and white

ok, i checked my harness, the wire colors are.... orange, orange/blue, blue/yellow, blue/green,white, another white, and white/blue. the car had a b16 in it before i bought it. the seller wanted to keep the b16 so we put in a d16a6 he had in another crx of his. we swapped in the hf engine harness and it was running fine, the fuel pump went out and i let it sit for awhile untill i got funding to fix it , after fixing the fuel pump is when i tried to crank the car again and code 15 appeared. i did notice today that the o2 wire has bare wire showing and possibly touching the transmission so that could be the culprit for code 20. the distributor i bought is for the si..would it make a difference ?

i think theat the wire colors you posted are for the distributor connector - i meant the connector where the engine harness connects to the chassis harness at the driver's side shock tower - Si distributor will work fine

oops! sorry about that....ill check tomorrow and post the update.

i checked the 8 wire harness on the drivers side firewall and the wire colors are ... yellow/black, white, red, brown, blue/yellow, yellow, 2nd yellow, light blue. thanks for all the help so far guys, hope someone can figure this thing out, im all out of ideas...........
