Will any 1.5 or VX block with a Z6 head make it run rich without it tuned or is that not true because the computer detects the A/F ratio from the o2 sensor which comes from the exhaust header then which comes from the head. Since I dont have an o2 sensor that should make it run rich correct????? Well when I did have an o2 sensor I was gettting 23MPG and now without it im still getting 23MPG. Could this mean my o2 sensor was bad in the first place or should I blame it on the fuel system cause I know for a fact that my timing on dead on.

yea but were you running rich cause for me it makes it boggy. I did a compression test and they were 140 149 146 150, 0% cylinder leakage, 18" vacuum. this probably has nothing to do with running rich but I just wanted to throw that in.

Okay I bought a new header and put a used O2 sensor in and I was getting 28MPG but still seems a little boggy. Like the RPMS are laggy. Bad throttle response at low RPMS. Also 80% of the driving was highway miles and 10% of it was WOT.

I solved my boggy problem and my timing was off by 1 tooth and I could have sworn I was in perfect timing before but I would just like to say thanks for everyone with helping me figure out this problem. My throttle response and performance is way better. Just waiting to see how my mpg is gonna be now so THANKS for all the help everyone, especially Blanco for dealing with my million posts and threads.

if i wanted mpg id buy a luxuary care.. if im buildin a race who gives...

my opinion

Getting bad MPG because your running rich and the timing is off, is waaaay different then getting bad MPG because you have performance in mind.

yeah. I had a cam seal replaced at a local speed shop. when i got my car back it it didnt have balls. anybody else would have let it go but i knew my car like the back of my shaft.

I took it back and sure enough it was a tooth off. depending on which one is off one tooth can make a huge difference

Yes I knew a big difference too. My timing is perfect now. My tooth was off by 2 teeth and now I have good response. I can still smell it runs a little rich. Should I blame it on my o2 sensor this time????
