Since the record setting run was performed on a public road with an uneven surface it stands to reason that the Ultimate Aero TT could certainly stretch out its lead a bit further.

I seriously hope someone gets caught for that shit. There's no reason to do a test-run on a public road. I hope it was at least legally closed off.

After a lengthy search SSC has received permission in their own state of Washington to make their drive for greatness on one of their freeways.

I don't really believe this. Snopes it or gimme official Guiness standings.

Building a tire to make this run involves more prep than launching a shuttle. The mirrors create too much drag, and would rip off. The front airdam is too pocketted. The back has too much drag.

This isn't going to happen. It COULD happen, but it would be more spectacular than they let on.

Also, the y2K is the fastest production 'vehicle" in the world, with a top speed of "I'm not doing that"

Actually the record run was recorded on a section of Washington state highway that was closed off with the states cooperation just for the occassion. They did not make the run with Guinness watching while weaving through traffic.
I have just added links to prior articles about the SSC Ultimate Aero’s run for the record at the end of this article. They better detail how they made the run and the way the speed was calculated by Guinness.

And again, as noted in the prior article, the only reason SSC had to utilize a closed off section of state highway for their test run is they are a small company and cannot afford to rent out any of the large test tracks owned by the major auto manufacturers.

and there is already a tire for speeds of 249+. they developed it when koenigsegg went for the title. top speed of 246 i think.

As for tires, whatever tires the veyron comes with withstand that speed...so im pretty sure they are available somewhere.

Also, I think the front diffuser actually diverts the air to where the size of the mirrors wouldnt really be a problem.

1200hp on pump gas, passing emissions, and kicking out almost 260mph.

Thats freaking amazing. Leather and other weighty creature comforts included.

Now, re-gear/rework it to have a top speed of 140mph and run a 4 second quarter mile. That would be way-way-way more handy than a 260mph top end. You just couldn't use that anywhere.
