I have a 94 Honda Civic dx hatchback. Im looking to buy a catalytic converter for a catback exhaust does anybody recommend anything. Are testpipes good?

test pipes are good for racing..you will have to put the stock cat on tho for emissions,

For the emissions that is baced on what state you live in. in little Vermont, they never look years 96 and older for a complete exaust, as long as its not to loud. So if you can get away with it Test Pipe if not, mite look into a high flow cat maybe :)

Just for clarification, a test pipe is not a real catalytic converter. A test pipe is just a piece of pipe that replaces the cat. It can open your exhaust up quite a bit and give you a few extra horsepower, but it's at the cost of dirtier emissions, increased noise, and possibly a check engine light depending on the year of the car (96+ have an o2 sensor in the cat converter).

If you live in a state where they don't do inspections, and you don't mind having a loud, stinky exhaust then maybe a test pipe is for you. If that's not for you, then look for a Magnaflow or Random Tech cat that matches up to the size of your header collector and exhaust piping.

Buy a high flow cat from Magnaflow or Random Tech don't go with a test pipe.. the difference is maybe 2 hp at best while polluting the environment for basically no gain.
