Actually, all you need is a hacksaw. What you'll want will depend on a few personal preferences.

You can get a set of Tokico blues for around $300 or so.. you don't have to buy shocks, but if you put lowering springs on the stock shocks they will blow out eventually. If you save a little more money a set of KYB AGX adjustable shocks can be had for around $400.

You could probably get cheaper prices than those if you look around too.. I just searched real quick for prices.

That's true for the most part.. but if you match the spring rate of the springs to the right shocks it will ride ok most of the time unless you're buying pure garbage.
