iam having issue deciding which way to go with my swap i have 93 integra with an ls in it and i wanna do a mean swap i was thinking of ether an ls/vtec or gsr. B20/vtec is also a option. I want something that will be fast off the line i been doing research but it does not help me with picking the motor i want i wanna know other ppl input on the subject. i do wanna turbo it but i also want to bore the block to 82mm to 84mm i want to know which will be better with boost. thank you in advanced for any answers.

if u going on boost def not the b20 the slee are too weak it all depends on ur buget me i'll go with the gsr since u going turbo........lsvtec they good tooo

i want to spend around 6 grand or so but the motor for the gsr alone is like 3 or lower witch is getting me in the ls/vtec i can spend 3 grand and get 200hp to wheels with out turbo i want at least 200hp to the wheels with out boost then boost it so iam a little faster iam not looking for that much hp i want something with nice torq the gsr lack in that thats why iam not to sure and i thought with boost i would want to keep my bore size to a limit because i dont want to weaking the motor to much i want the best setup for my money

i know how to build both ls/vtec and b20/vtec done them in the past with friend's, and my question is why wont building the motor to put 200hp to wheels then turboing it work see i know a lot about motor building but when it comes to turbo i really dont anything. I know a b20 is an ls bored out i just want something off the line good and i want vtec so stock b20 no good for me but will it be better just to bore my ls block to 85mm and run all motor all day will that be better then turbo or will turbo be better.

her is another question my friend and where talking and he was saying if i was going to do ls/vtec i should look into getting the gsr or type-r crank now by doing that wont that just destroy the purpose of ls/vtec because the point of ls vtec is how ls crank is made for low end. also by doing that it will be like having an gsr or type-r with more displacement if i keep the 81mm bore right.

What blanco is trying to say is that you either need to build it for all motor or turbo because to make 200whp all motor you will need higher compression which is no good for a turbo application. You can build it for either all motor or turbo but with your built ls/vtec or b20vtec with lower compression it will still be a pretty quick car. It just won't have 200whp maybe around 160whp which is still 30whp more than a stock b16 and you'll probably have about 40wtq more.

Don't listen to your friends. The bore is the same on the b16a/b, b18c1/5, and b18a/b and that combo wouldn't work. Yes it would defeat the purpose of doing the ls/vtec.

ok i figured out i will go with the ls/vtec i like the idea of something different and i have the block already and i wont need to purchase it so with that said what do think will be a nice set up ls/vtec all motor or with turbo and thanks for answering my question i wonder about using to high of compression pistons then trying to turbo it. what type of pistons do you recommend because i was looking at je pistons but the dome was confusing me i seen different domes which will be a good choice?

It all depends on what you want. Turbo or all motor. make that choice first because if you want all motor you will want the low to mid 11:1 compression or for turbo under 10:1. JE is good. They are all good. I have srp personally. If you want to go all motor you can use the stock LS rods with arp studs and PR3 (b16) pistons which is a nice cheap setup. Thats what I was running at first.

Edit: Before you ask another question, sit back and ask yourself something. Do you want a reliable 200+ whp NA car or a less reliable more whp turbo car.

thanks for the info i was thinking of doing that setup but iam going to go all out ill have it on the motor stand for a while but iam going to go with turbo i love the sound of turbo but again thanks you made my piston search easier.

forget the last message if i decide to go with all motor do you think 84mm or 85mm bore will be a nice setup to spank turbos thinking about the last part you said iam not sure on the turbo and if i dont like the setup i have with all motor ill just make another ls vtec and turbo it and put it in my girls car lol. Also want to put this in it will be a daily driver car

84mm bore is good for turbo or na. But sleeve it if you want 84mm bore in an ls block or buy yourself a b20 block.

did not think 84mm bore will be good for turbo set up thats why i did not want a b20 so if i run turbo will 10.5:1 compression be good ,which is still in the air just trying to gather info then search so dont mind me if i repeat things.

her is another question if i bore out my ls block to 84mm and use b20 pistons with the compression of 10.5.1 and the rod is 5.290 and stroke of 3.047 and the ls stoke rod is 5.394 and stroke is 3.504 will i have to change anything or can i use my stock length rods

What?????

1) you will need to sleeve your ls block for 84mm bore
2) b18b and b20 share the same rod/crank
3) you can use stock length rods
4) you can turbo 10.5:1 compression but its harder to tune and you REALLY need to know what your are doing.

Now do some searching.

theats teh funnies tinhg i veha ever seen blnaco...lol lol :p
