I have a 99 Civic Ex that I would like to make faster with as little money as possible. I already have put a cool air intake and new fuel rail in, but I was wondering what else I could to add more horsepower.

For starters, post in the EG/EK section, not in this section, this section is for civics newer than yours.

You need to be more detailed, how much money do you have to play with, and how fast do you want to make the car, NA, Boost etc etc etc....

It seems like everybody wants to make their car as fast as possible and at the same time spend as little money as possible. Fast and cheap never tends to really work out so well. Exactly how much money are you looking to spend?

I have around 5,000 to play with now, so that's about the ballpark of the funds for now.

If you've got $5,000 to spend then you've got several options. You could buy a GSR swap, and depending on whether or not you can install the motor yourself, possibly have some money left over for bolt-ons (intake, header, exhaust, etc.). You could do a an LS swap, and probably have some money left over to spend on bolt-ons, maybe even a turbo kit. Or, you could buy a nice turbo kit for your D16, and make more power than either of the two afore-mentioned swaps.

The advantage to the swaps though, would be that you have a better platform to build on. A turbo kit on a B18C GSR is going to produce better results than a similar setup on your stock D16.

How much power would you ideally like to make?

I was thinking about doing the engine swap, because I was wanting to get into the 250-300 HP range. Or close to it.
