To be honest with you i can say i was born knowing everything.
But yet when i ask questions to learn i constantly get bashed.

So here is what i wanna know... What the fuck is up with the shit heads
who will make 20 post bashing before making 1 to help?

isn't that what the forums are for? to help or are they just to brag about what you
got bolted on?

I think you mean "Were you born knowing everything?"

Clearly you were not.

Where are you?
Were you going to eat the last slice of pizza?

I think what you are experiencing is someone asking a question that has been covered ohhh lets say between 1 and 129084039823502938109283409823.3328^92138 other times. I mean really if someone posts a question like, how do i change a tire. Of course you are going to get flamed. Also questions like what is the best X brand for X part. Some shit is just common sense and with a little bit of research you can figure it out but if you truly do not know then post up.

I love the sig btw. But yea, it's just because we get the same questions 8 times a day. Simply using the search option would end all of this. But if you can't find your answer here or with a little research THEN ask here. And be clear that you did search and try to do research first.

What question are you talking about here ?

You know, I frequent a lot of porsche and Lotus forums, and no will answer my questions like "How do I buy a lotus" and "If I got a porsche, how much will I pay for oil".. Because this is not what a forum is for.

There are technical papers here that Brian (pissedoffsol) has worked a LOT OF TIME to compile. If you want to make your Civic more of a "highway rocket" then you can find the combos, find the vendors, and then find the help making it all work. If you ask "Can I make my DOHC ZC mate to a 97 HX trans" then you'll get answers. If you ask "Will an NSX engine fit in my CRX" then you'll get flamed. You DO need to know a bit before you begin with an engine swap.

I guarantee you that everyone on this forum who has performed their own swaps know WAY MORE than a paid, careered mechanic. Its not easy, but it is worth it.

Now, again, point out the thread that you're having a problem with.

Ahh, it most definately is. :D

But yeah, Hondaswap gets alot of repeat questions, or questions that have an answer in the reference section.

Although I do agree with the point you're making I would not go as far as to say everyone falls into that category. I'm a paid/careered/certified tech and probably know way more than most people that have done an engine swap on their car. However, most people that repair cars for a living haven't a clue what to do if they're working on anything other than a stock car from the factory. But my point is there are some people out there that do know what they're talking about and have spent years studying/modifying/learning about Hondas or other vehicles and do know what they are talking about. Unfortunately the other 90% of the morons out there claiming to be mechanics ruin it for the rest of us

You're right, to clarify my point (I typed that last one out too fast) If you can't fully comprehend ignition systems, ECUs, Fuel maps, OBD basics and fundamental differences between SOHC and DOHC, then you're too junior to even attempt a swap.

That's why technical questions come in one flavor here: fucking hard as hell. CELs that don't go away, hesitations or sputters that seem to have no cause, "The car just won't fucking start" etc.

:D :D

Being an inquisitive idiot is a good thing... At least you're curious about the world around you and are asking questions. It's the non-inquisitive idiots you have to worry about.

That being said, there's a difference between being inquisitive and being a lazyass who asks other people to figure things out that they could figure out themselves.

How do you figure? I'm a career mechanic, I've got several ASE's, and even more Chrysler-specific certifications...I actually pull apart and rebuild motors, diagnose problems (that most of the time the vehicles have been to other shops and they tell the customer 'we can't figure it out, take it to a dealership), and have yet to run into something that I haven't been able to fix...and I haven't had a SINGLE comeback...

whereas someone who performs their own swap unbolts a coupela motor mounts, removes 2 cv axles, unplugs a couplea harness plugs, MAYBE adds a few wires from a color-by-numbers picture online that doesn't even remotely RESEMBLE an actual wiring diagram, but 99% of the time doesn't actually know WHAT they're doing?

Why are there so many 'I followed the how-to, and my car won't start' posts? Because being a career mechanic is more than just pulling and swapping motors. You have to actually figure out what's wrong and fix it, not just throw another motor in. I'd like ANYONE on here who isn't a career mechanic, whose only experience is that of doing theirs or their friends' motor swaps and basic stuff on thier honda, to take a shot at even HALF the tickets I pull in a week. 'Car will only start and run when headlights are on', for example. Would a DIY-swapper know how to correct this? Probably not.

I know you made a post later in this thread about that comment, but I still felt that I should put in my .02 on the matter.

Also, to norcalgsr, your comment about people who repair cars only know how to work on stock cars from the factory, I also think that may be a bit far-fetched...I work at a dealership, and out of all the techs in the shop there are maybe 2 or 3 of them who don't have at least a very decent amount of aftermarket and/or performance knowledge, and they're the guys on the lube rack. Most of the guys here HAVE race cars that they do everything on themselves, and it's not uncommon on a saturday to have 2 or 3 of the tech's personal playtoys on the racks...maybe in your part of the country, but not here.

To the original poster, you get bashed because you're a fucking idiot.

Yeah, well I forgot about the swap "kits" and the fact that Hondaswap is here. When some of us were doing it (When you were 10 or so) there were no manuals and kits.

Nope, actually... you were about 6 when I was dropping V8s in things. It's a totally different world, Perception issue, sorry.
