Of the big three in America, Chevy built the only V8 (or V10) 'supercar' that doesn't have a gas guzzler tax on it like the Viper and 03-04 Cobra/S197 GT500 do.

they also have this nifty lockout to that forces you to skip gears at low rpms and speeds to achieve that mpg.

For some reason I think I have seen this somewhere else before.

It can be disabled. IIRC you can still use 2nd gear but if you try to rev out 1st it won't let you into 2nd. For the people saying the 15.2 is slow what car out of the early 80s was fast?

the 2/3 lockout is only on automatics i beleive....

basically it shifts you from 1st to 4th under normal aceleration
