Back in the Game
I too am building an H23a4 swap for my civic. I am buying a t3/t4 turbo kit in the next month. But what I don't get is all you guys have such low horsepower and torque specs you are shooting for. Correct me if I am wrong but the H23a4 is pushin 160/156 hp/torque so if you put a turbo on that and a turbo back exhaust you should be pushing already in the neighborhood of 215/200 (ish) but on my swap I am not sticking with anything stock. The intake manny, throttle body, pistons, rods, fuel rail, and injectors will all be done. I plan on going an all venom high flow fuel rail and injectors, aem or venom intake manifold, forged H-beam rods (if I can find them), as well as forged pistons (if I can find them). I also plan on port and pollishing the head doing a 3 or 5 angle valve job, and aftermarket cam gears. I then plan on going the full 9 yards on the tranny and clutch as well with a racing clutch, lightweight flywheel, and a rebuilt h-series tranny. Just in your guys opinion how much power will I be putting out? I plan on boosting it around 10 or 15 pounds but I will have an in dash Hallman boost controller to turn it up whenever. I am shooting for at least 400/350 (ish) but I guess after I have it done and dynoed we will see.
 
well its obvious you dont know what you are doing. seeing that you can NOT put forged pistons into that motor without sleeving it first. its sounds like you are building an all out race car. also if you think that a turbo h23 is only going to make 200hp you are wrong. with the correct turbo set up the stock h23 could be safely boosted to 260-280 hp. and with the race car you are building 700-900hp is possible if you have enough money.

you set up will need some cams. the the h tranny is not the most desireable for turbo cars, a longer geared f22 would be better. and if you put 8k in this (which is a minimum for what i just read) you had better put more down than 400hp.
 
I'm going all motor anyways. and an h23 with a simple turbo setup (keep in mind I don't know what turbo the other guy was going to use) boosting 5 psi on a stock motor would be safe thats what I said. and an h23 with 5 psi of boost will not push 300 to 400 whp. its only 160 hp stock and when I mentioned a stock motor, the only mod would be the exhaust. sorry to be so vagaue but I do admit I don't know everything, however I do know how to install a turbo, and know about where the horse power will be afterwards.
 
and what im trying to tell you is that the h23 will make 260-280 hp safely on 9 lbs with a t3/t4. like i said its not psi that breaks things...its hp
 
okay well it doesn't matter I was trying to prove that its easy to make more than 250 horses out of this motor, so the fact that my numbers are too low only proves me even more right so I'm done with this argument. thanks though.
 
Your point is basically moot everyone knows you can make way more than 250hp from an H23. Installing a turbo is pretty damn simple, knowing how to do it right is what counts. If you think you're going to slap on a turbo kit and run 400 hp you're going to make a paperweight out of your engine. I never saw even a mention of engine management or tuning anywhere in your posts which is basically the most important factor in a turbo build.

he can do 10 to 15 psi with all of those mods easly reliable.

350 to 400 sounds about right.
 
This is a pointless thread.......

Almost every Honda motor I've seen turbo'd can make between 250-300whp on the stock block. Impressive :)
 
no one on this entire thread read any of that did they? I was trying to prove to someone else on a different thread who was asking how easy it was to push 250 horses out of a stock motor cheap, I said turbo. all I did was copy and paste my reply to ask people about how many horses my fully built h23 with a turbo would put out, instead I get replies that are giving me shit when they don't even read what I wrote. and I'm fully aware that I can't do all motor and turbo. I am going all motor. no turbo.... I changed my plans a while back after I had already posted this.
 
and you wonder why you cant get the right answer....what are your plans? What is your question? simply put, not with all the backstory please :)

a fully built motor can make 900hp......if the right parts are used and a sufficient turbo set up is used....but you are lookin at 12k + for something like that.

i got a 95 prelude with h23 with slieves, j&e pistons, corrilo rods, rod bearings (most important because after you put rods in it i guarantee you will throw out the stock bearing so dont forget those) port and polish head, dual valve springs, cams, cam gears, blue printed and balanced crankshaft with a t3 t4 turbo at 25psi with aem fuel rail and 750cc injectors and walbro fuel pump with aem computer and sensors. with a 50 shot of nos just to cool down the intake manifold my car is 536 hp @ 10.56 quater mile. obx lsd with exxedy stage 2 helped alot 2 and ofcourse build suspention with camber kits and all that. i hope this answers your question because ive never seen any 900hp street legal hondas anywhere. but 400-600 hp is way more than enough to push a civic into smoking mostly everything on the road. oh, and be ready to be buyng a lot of new axels

I understand what you were trying to do, but it still doesn't matter. That other thread that you were responding to is almost 5 years old. The person who posted that question hasn't been here in years. That's why they locked it down and told you to start a new thread, moron.
