Rotta Roketta
i have a 94 del sol,
it has a minime swap (d15z1 block with a d16z6 head,
it has a 3 inch exhaust all the way back and it is verrrrrrrrrry slow,
i have to other friends with del sols with stock d16b7"s and they boh beat me by like 4 car lengths,
i ran the diagnostics and it threw the code 21, v-tec malfunction
could the v-tech be the only thing hats slowwing me down so much, i rly dont understand why its just so god damn slow,
someone please help!!!

thank you

That would do it.. without vtec, you're most likely in limp mode. Basically you have no power. I'd check the wiring and make sure that everythings going to the correct pins on the ecu.

The 3" exhaust is a total overkill. 2 1/4 would be plenty for your setup.

Just go to the referance section of the board. Theres ton's of information on wiring. I sucked at wireing too, and I used what was here to wire up my car. By the way, what ecu are you using?

Honestly I don't know, i ve had the car for like 3 weeks, the guy I bought it from dosent know shit either, I havnt had time to rly look at the ecu or any wiring, it says 94-95 civic and a bunch of letters I can't read lol, there's also a bue wire unpluged,

Ill get you some rep when I can, I'm using my phone and it won't let me lol

check the ecu.. you should be running an ece for a d16z6 car, which is a p28. If you are running the vx exu (which is the d15z1 engine), then you will definately be having problems because that uses a different version of vtec.

Do this:
-Confirm what ecu it is: if it's a p28, you're fine, if its not, then most likely you need to find one (the exception being if it's a chipped version of some other ecu).
-if the ecu checks out, then check on that blue wire. There are diagrams here that tell you exactly where every wire going into the ecu needs to go on the plugs. If something is missing, particularly anything for vtec, then there's your problem.

The 3" exhaust is a total overkill. 2 1/4 would be plenty for your setup.

:werd:

Once you've dealt with the wiring problems I'd start shopping for a new exhaust. You might actually be losing power with an exhaust that big on a 1.6 liter.

Yeah without forced induction that's way too large of an exhaust.. especially considering it's a D series engine.

How much do you know about Hondas? Are you sure it is actually a mini-me with an actual VTEC head? I'm not trying to be an ass at all, that just would have been my first question.

i know a bit about hondas, mainly just about cars in general, ive only been in the honda scene for a little whiel, i dont know as much as i should tho

yes it is, i fixed it today, i looked at the ecu and there was a wire torn, i put it back together and it runs great, i can rly feel the difference
