So a little over a year ago, I went and scoped out this guy:

and yesterday I went and picked it up.

It was grown up quite a bit since I went down there last year, it's been raining a lot. It was sunk down to the axles, all 4 tires were flat and wouldn't hold air, and all 4 wheels were locked. I disconnected the E-brake and removed the rear axles, and still couldn't get it to budge...

so we got a fuckin' tractor, picked the motherfucker up, and drug it out of its grave. Since all 4 wheels were locked up, and we wouldn't be able to push it onto the trailer, we picked the ass end up with the tractor, backed the trailer under it, and then pushed it the rest of the way onto the trailer with the tractor.

So after a 16-hour day of driving and getting dirty, it's back at my parent's house under a car cover. Next weekend I should be taking it to a friend of mine's shop, pulling the cab, stripping it, and media blasting the cab, grille, and hood. I think I'm going to trash the front and rear fenders that it currently has, and try to find new ones offline.

If anyone knows of a good site to buy classic car body panels, let me know.

Wil....i aint gonna offer ya any suggestions, on this but why not build a new frame outta 2"x2" 1/4" wall square tubing, get some Chevy S-10 control arms, bag it, and 4-link it. this is what we call a stock floor body drop. it would make the truck sit nice and low. also a nice set of 20s would look killer on there bro. thats gonna be a helluva project and if i was in your neck of the woods, i definately would help ya out. but for now, heres a few links to get ya started:

-suspension stuff (control arms, bag kits, 4 links and what-not) : Suicide Doors

-general 1949 Chevrolet pickup parts (includes body parts, interior...etc) : 1947-1959 Chevrolet and GMC Truck Truck Parts > LMC Truck > Pick Up Truck Parts

theres a start for ya man. any questions regarding bagging or whatever else ya need, lemme know. i know lots of truck people on the web and personally.

Thanks for the links, B...as far as bags, I dunno...it's definitely going to get lowered a LOT. I might do what you were talking about with the 2x2 tube frame and s-10 control arms, but this is going to be more of a 'go fast and haul my race car' truck...blown 400 smallblock maybe?

Bring your ass to Texas and help me build a frame.

lol i could if i would but i cant. if you do all the S-10 suspension components, it would be alot easier since buying S-10 stuff is fairly cheap to buy. the control arms from SuicideDoors.com are BADASS!! ive personally seen em before and they are nice and beefy and will/can be able to be abused. as far as the bags go, if you are gonna use the S-10 suspension setup, then MOST bag kits are bolt-in as well. matter of fact, SuicideDoors.com specializes in S-10 suspension components so that should help you out and you can call them up and ask them technical questions. very cool and down to earth people who are REALLY knowledgeable. they make most of if not all the parts they sell. another thing you may wanna consider is using a Chevy S-10 frame as well. sure you may have to modify it for the '49 body, but itll help save time if you are in a rush.

Awesome, thanks for the link Jeef...I just registered on that forum, and it's looking like that's gonna help me out a LOT.

wow. it doesnt look to impossible now that its out of the fields. Nice find honky:thumbsup:

I love the redneck graffiti on the tailgate:D

Yeah, I'm guessing the 'Redneck' spray painted on the tailgate was the work of the same assholes that busted up the rear fenders and broke the windows out.

Fuckin' kids.

I would also suggest doing a frame swap, but a 2wd chevy K1500 might fit better and would already be setup for the small block.
