I have a 94 honda civic dx....and iam tryna find a good enigne swap...Jus lookin 4 a nice engine dat would get me a couple street win races under my belt....What is my best bet?

Any B-Series Engine will be faster then what you have. It all depends on how much money you want to spend.
The B18 A/B(non-vtec) are good cheaper choices if you want to boost them with turbo/supercharger later. It would be advisable to match these up to a Civic or Intergra type R tranny with the shorter Gears. After a while when you have more money you could make your b18 into a LSvtec or poorman's Type-R by putting on a B16 head and ITR cams.

If money is no cost I would recommend a ITR(B18c5) with a B16 Tranny for a NA setup, If you are going to turbo/supercharge save some money and buy a B18a/b and attach a Type-R tranny.

Hope this helps.

I would go with a GSR.... Simple and Very smoth! Thats if ya like simple... and is it a DX hatch? Coupe? 4 door?

Don't you think a Type R transmission is kinda overkill for a B18A or B? Keep in mind the LS has a lower redline and lower powerband than the dual cam VTEC B-Series motors. I'd probably stick with the LS tranny or a GSR tranny if you're not gonna do an LS/VTEC. Yes, the gears are longer, but they suit the engine's powerband better.

d16z6, my buddies beat a gsr integra the other day, short race but still pulled on him

93 hatch - d16z6, i/h/e, full tien suspension, gutted rear
97ish gsr - probably the usual i/h/e

he was revving the motor, and was like "gsr" pointing to his engine bay so my buddie pointed to his d16 and yelled single cam. power to wieght has alot to do with cars its not everything, but it helps

lol that doesnt sound right at all...power to weight is a big deal but..i doubt the integra was a gsr...it was prolly an LS...

Godaaayyyymmmmm! Read that back to yourself, Work on your Grammer, Spelling, and Punctuation

Put your keys on the driver seat, and slowly back away from the car if you are looking to win 'a couple of street races'

If the ONLY REASON why you want to do a motor swap is to win street races, You need to Sell your car and Buy a Bicycle untill you REALLY appreciate having a Drivers lisence.

Street Racing is stupid, Yes we are all guilty of it at some point, but If this is your sole goal you need to re-think your priorites.

A) "Saying" you have a GSR is alot diffrent from HAVING a GSR

B) Neither engine has ANY torque, so if you raced from like 0-60, Chances are your friends lighter hatch had the advantage as if it was a real GSR, its horsepower advantage wouldn't have been aparent untill higher speeds.

if it was we will never be sure, but my buddies hatch is at least 500 pounds lighter. ls's are just slow as shit, the whole time your just waiting to feel it pull and it never does. if he was advertising a gsr i hope it was, o well. the d16z6 is just as good a contender when in a hatch

SOHC's are a force to be reckoned with, My gutted hatch with my MiniMe is going to be around 140WHP with all that has been done to it, and with a driver I'm going to JUST be over the 2000lb mark *My fat ass it'll probably be aboue 2100lb with me in it* may not be a ton of HP, but it'll move out just fine.

Lol, I think I summed it up pretty well.

I'm sure everyone has a diffrent goal for their car, My goal is Autocross, Thats why I'm staying NA, and thats why I'm using a light hatch for a platform.
I'm a Network Tech and this is my SPARE car, so I can acheive this goal realistically and if the car breaks its not the end of the world, but too many people just wanna beat the next guy in a straight line *On the street sadly* with there DD civic, If you wanted to beat someone in a straight line, Buy a goddamn mustang and get off these boards, if you want a crisp handling, peppy, light car that moves pretty good for being a small displacement 4cyl, Then Please stick around, but by all means its not all about 'street cred' or racing, not matter what you have heard.

i would go with a B series swap, lot better than a stock d series if you want just some stock hp. if you wanted some more hp butt a more diffcult swap you could try the h22 swap but that more money/time.

Sell the car. Buy a bus pass. That way, in those "street races," you're standing and looking around and not driving/hurting anyone/putting anyone in danger faster than the guy with the ls stuck behind the bus.
