from what i know its a 1.5L DX bottom end with a D16Z6 or D16Y8 VTEC head. so is it just like a bolt on swap? well obviously the VTEC wiring. but lets say the head comes from a motor with auto trans and im putting it in a motor with a manual trans, would that matter? anyways this would be my first project, so any kind of advice or a place/link where i can find more info would help alot. thanks in advance

Hey, U have the mini me right exept its all the head parts not just the z6 or y8 head... and yes the wiring.. the trany don't matter ... its just a head replacement not a whole motor. Um look around under the build forums and at Honda-Tech.com to find out more about ya Mini Me build, best of luck!

a mini me is taking any SOHC non vtec block and bolting on a SOHC VTEC head...it can be done with a 1.6 block and 1.6 head or a 1.5 block and 1.6 head
you will need the cam/gear that goes with the vtec head..typically if the car is 0bd-0 you will convert the car to obd-1 but do not have to...any questions you have that you cant figure out 4 yourself just talk o BLANCO hes awesome at this shit

also i believe that manuals and automatics have diffrent throttle bodies or a diffrent setup on the throttle bodies but i could be mistaken

and just use the vtec ecu from the car you are getting the head from

its not that easy...read my above post

injen your an idoit, you know nothing about cars, any monkey that knows a decent amount about honda's could do a head swap in like 3 hours. on my car all i have to do is swap ecu, no convert bullshit. if your talkin ls/vtec then its better to convert to obd1 to tune it so it runs right. but it is that simple an ecu swap and a little extra wiring.

no im not an idiot... he has a 1.5 in his car..assuming his car is obd-0 if he wants to swap a z6 head on(which is obd-1) he cant just put in an ecu and expect it to run...he needs to convert to obd-1(which requires alot of wiring or(BUYING A CONVERSION HARNESS) soo therefore it isnt just a little extra wiring

that is a most def huge write up...well done dasfic dude

Thank you ^_^ I've put ALOT of Time, and sadly a fair amount of money for doing this swap, and learning 'the hard way' on just about everything involving this swap, done write *By following my write-up* you could do the full swap *Head, Intake Manifold, Headbolts/Studs, ECU* for sub $500, which may seem like alot, but you have to keep in mind you are replacing your entire top end with brand new pieces, gaskets, and seals, while if you buy a motor from someone or even worse the junkyard you have no idea what is already broken, and how much repair may already be needed as well as you don't have to pull anything except for the old head and intake mani out of the engine bay. I'm mounting my Y8 Intake manifold and throttle body tomorrow and redoing the headgasket with an OEM Honda piece. :D

Noone has moved it to the FAQ section yet while that have over on Honda-Tech, not that that's saying much.

1.6 A6 to Z6 swaps yield some nice gains, but does involve converting the car to OBD-1 to my understanding

The Intake MANIFOLDS on Automatic D16Y8's are vastly diffrent from Any other intake manifold, but I believe Z6/A6/B7/B8 intake manifolds manual or auto are very similar to my understanding, but the autos use a 3 wire opposed to a 2 wire EACV Valve?

The automatic Y8's have their EACV Valve built INTO the throttle body, that'd be the main complication with using an Automatic Y8 intake Manifold.
