I have personally ran CTR cams in my B16 with stock valve train and it ran PERFECTLY fine. The only thing you MUST do is not exceed the stock redline. The lift isn't a problem, it's the duration of the cams if you go up to 8500 rpm's that'll keep the valve open too long and smash into your piston.
But in order to take full advantage of the cams i'd suggest going with the springs and retainers as well, so you can rev the cams where they liked to be reved to.
