I am asking a pro on this.

Ive been gathering opinions from many people on this motor (D15B7). I personally dont think it gets enough credit for what it can push. Im running a canook Version.. Its a 93 Civic Hatch btw. Ive been gathering opinions on ways to turn it into a holy shit honda. SO now I turn to the intetnet to further what I may can learn.

Btw I have no interest in a swap.

So give me some ideas on how to get the best out of the motor without blowing it up.
 
I guess I am going for a more or less "mild" Holy Shit!

Mabye get the motor to around 170hp. Granted cause its just a street car. I want some uumph but my goal isnt being the fastest car on the road.

And no nitrous <.< I dont neeed to turn mr motor into a paperweight.

Its at 100hp atm. Totally stock it was just rebuilt not long ago.
 
So no nitrous means that you're open to the idea of either N/A or FI?
 
Umm... I not the most potent when it comes to the lingo. I guess I am asking for people to just throw some ideas out there. What ideas do you have that I dont ? >.< For example a wee boost gonna turn the engine into peices? I can rip a motor apart front and back I am just not to keen on suoping them up beyond Cold Air and chipping the.

Oh here one? What about losing the crappy CX tranny? Possilbe you can get something else that gives you a more ummph? Cuase honestly its its a PoS.

Rear seats are already gone and somereason when we got this car it already had front and rear sway bars.

any d series tranny will bolt right up to it, so take your pick from whats out there.

and what daveholiday was asking is just if you have any preference on building it naturally aspirated(no boost - usually high revving, high compression etc.) or forced induction(boost).

is this car going to be your daily driver, or just something you want to take out every once and awhile around the streets for some fun? what type of money are you looking to spend?

170 should be a reachable goal with a d15b7, but it'd probably be easiest to reach with boost.

Edit: I just noticed you said its a 93 hatch(im assuming CX based on the tranny). Are you sure the motor is a d15b7? Cause they came in DX/LX models here in the US, dont know if it was different up there.
 
Going all motor, gets very expensive, very quick. You can take say $3k and put it into an all motor D, end up with around 160-170 whp, or you could take $3k and put it into boosting it and be at 250 whp.

Going all motor gets expensive because you have to upgrade your valve-train, boosted you can do minimal work, little bit of bottom end and call it a day at around 170 whp, and run the stock head since you're not revving the hell out of it.
 
Well here in Canada for some reason they slammed them into teh CX. But yea its a CX based tranny...

Its a 16 Vavle SOHC. When I get it rebuilt my mechanic backed me on it being a d15b7. Of course at first they didnt belive it when i told them that <.<

I thought of boost but what might I need to do in order to Not blow the thing up. Cause I like the idea. I don't feel like I could go all motor with this engin anyway.

As far as a daily drive it kind of is. Id like to have a wee fun with it tho. Im willing to spend a fair bit but not something crazy like 15k. I am willing ot go for whatevers good.

You're going to run into one - and only one - major issue trying to make power with a D15 versus a D16. There's only one company (Crower) that makes rods for it, and they're about $700. Your only other option is to run stock rods, which are about as stout as balsa wood.
 
Honestly, 170hp is alot for that poor little B7.

I have a D16A6 Cam with a Y7 gear that would help it out a little if you are interested for $35 shipped.

but seriously, if you boost it, no more than 6-7PSI, your rods are pencil thin.

Eh, I'll suggest like I do to everyone that wants more out of their B7/B8, MiniMe Swap it and call it a day.

do a little mock up of everything.

and....

75 wet shot
cold air intake
intake mani
1 inch custom 4-2-1 header
2.5 inch stock placement exaust
bigger pullys
b16 rods
higher comp. pistions 10:1
p&p head
titanum valve springs
stiffer dampers & swing arms
traction bars
bigger ingectiors
engine management system for when the nitrous isn't going through the motor
and last but not least Rota slipstreams

this is all going to go on a CRX

but yeah just for an idea thats what im going to do so yeah but i know you already said you didn't want nitrous so hopefully i might change your mind?
