Are the gear ratios on an H22 tranny really that bad? And not all B-series trannies have great gearing; the LS tranny for example, has very long 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears. If you're gonna do an H2B, then you definitely need to be picky when it comes to exactly which B-series transmission you're going to use.
And actually, the reason they came out with the H2B isn't completely about gearing anyway. B-series trannies will install fairly easily into most 88-00 Civics. The H-series tranny won't; you have to cut a new hole in the floor for the shifter and use aftermarket mounts. The H2B kits make it so that you don't have to hack up your car so much when doing an H22 swap.
I would probably just stick with the H22 tranny in Prelude/Accord applications.
