pretty much all pioneers are awsome units. they are the ones i have the least amount of problems with as compared to the other companies i have installed.

I have a P7900, it's pretty much the same as that one but it also has a hands-free phone option. I'm pretty satisfied with it, I say go for it.

I used to sell/install car audio many years ago, and Pioneer consistently had good products every year the whole time I was in the industry. The user interface wasn't my favorite, but as far as quality they make great stuff. I would also recommend purchasing it.

wow b16 i am not sayin this to be an ass or sarcastic but you are the first person that i have ever heard say that in the 10 years i have been in the car audio field.lol

the new pioneer deck is replacing a clarion (came w/heep) deck, which is free+shipping to whoever wants it. i don't have the model info handy but if you need a slot to stick cds into ;).

lol everyone looks at me funny when I say that. I've just had bad luck with them. Never any problems with the product itself. My first Pioneer I got, someone stole it. The second Pioneer I got, my little cousin decided that it was a slot machine and quarters were better than cd's. The 3rd Pioneer I bought kept blowing it's own fuse, went to Best Buy for a warranty replacement, put in the new replacement, and low and behold, the face was cracked and only half the thing lit up.

I've just had bad luck with them. No problems with the quality of their products though.

no no i was saying about the clarion and sony units.

i have a kenwood in my rex; had to send it in on extended warranty to get the faceplate contacts worked on as they weren't making solid contact w/the head unit and i was getting sound cutting in/out. otherwise, diggit. takes a pretty good beating, too.

So did you buy the Pioneer? Did you get it from the site I linked you to?

went with the pioneer, but got the one from the site george777 linked; figured he had a good experience there = i'd try it too. it arrives friday :)

i don't like pioneer either....

not because they break or sound bad (as thats not the case)... i just really don't like the user interface, button layout, etc...

so yeah, got the deck in. looks pretty sharp but i have a few pffffft comments:

you're forced to use its iplop controller interface (it locks up your ipods controls) which are actually a lot less usable than the iplop's (the deck doesn't remember current folder so you have to start from the parent directory each time you want to search for a track)...

...and there's no known way to turn the deck's control beep confirmations off (annoying!).

soundwise, though -- it's a definite improvement over the way the clarion POS distributed signal to the speakers.
