Soon here I am hopefully gong to get a 99 civic coupe w/ a D16. I dont really know the kind of power the D series motors are capable. (not really a big fan of the Ds)

I was hoping to get 175-200hp N/A w/ I/H/E, Intake man., throttlebody, cam, cam gear, underdrive pulley, and port mathching the IM, header, and head.... am I going to be able to make my goal? if not what can I do? And are there any more power adders (no boost or nitrous) that can give me more power?

Swap in a b18c then throw all of thoes parts at it, then you can see your goal.

Are you talking about 175-200@crank or at wheel? If you're talking about wheel hp then good luck but you should be able to get 175 at crank with those mods. Just research the brands you buy and get the best you can afford. Gude makes a good head package for about $1650 it'll get you close to your goal alone Gude - Product Description (it's down at the bottom of the page) just add intake, header and a good exhaust system and you've got it. Good luck let me know what works for you as I also have a d16z6 I'm looking into mod'ing.

Gude is as much a pile of crap as KMS is. At least go to PortFlow.

Well thanks for that info I don't know a huge amount about engine building myself so any info as to what company's products are good/bad is helpful. I just know what i've read about online/magazines/books.

And yes, 175whp is possible. Hell, 200whp is possible if you have enough money and build the engine correctly.

:werd:
Bisi can probably set you up with a 250whp D-series.

There are some guys in the 160-175whp mark with off the shelf stuff and P29 pistons. I believe someone on Honda-Tech had more.

I would only suggest a B18C swap if your power goal is higher than 200whp.

Would a boosted d15b sohc vtec with a t3/t4 turbo running about 8 psi with some i/h/e, a good tune and maybe some internal stuff get past 200whp??
internal...maybe skunk2 stage 2 camshafts, and whatever else i can get my hands on...at school right now can't think of what else i was going to say...but ya opinions??

Aight, sweet. That's what i'm hopin for. I wanna own this kid from my highschool, he has an h22. nothing else. just the motor pretty much. nothing special about it. it's an ek hatch, he ran like 15 sec/quarter mile at the track....an he brags about how fast it is. i want the low compression for the turbo so i have low/mid/high all covered.. think i'd beat him??

Let's all be mean blanco....

t3/t4 turbonics kit...
something like this...
http://www.turbo-kits.com/images/revhard_turbo_kit.jpg

i'm getting the engine an stuff now....an later on in like a month or two i'm getting the turbo kit.

i wanted to get a b18c1....but my motor right now is crappin out so i gotta get something now an i might as well have fun with it...sorry though?

the d-series motors are possible to get that kind of wheel horses out of but you have to do more than just what you listed. First of I would suggest doing a hybrid motor. If I am not mistaken the car you are buying already has the d16y8 or d16z6 sohc vtec. So you need to find a d15b7 block and put your head after first port and pollishing, 5 angle valve job, and titanium valve springs, and retainers, on that block, go with the y8 ecu. Find a good engine managment system, intake manifold, throttle body, cam, cam gear, headers, full exhaust. I would also probably go with the underdrive pully like you said, and even throw in a cai of course. There are probably some other things you could do as well. but that could be close to 175 to 200 whp. If your lucky. I looked into it. D-series motors are good turbo motors. They run good with the turbos and are very easy to build up for a turbo setup but going with an all motor setup they won't be the best setup.

Yeah dude!!1! That would totally rock!!! I suggest you get a DC header and an AEM intake to go with your turbo! I've heard they totally work good together! With a setup like that you could probably make 400 whp!!!!111!!!111

I don't sugar coat things. You're lame for wanting to spend that much money just to have a faster car than someone you admit is a tool. Not only do you make yourself look bad, you make every responsible person who drives a Honda look bad. Let ricers be ricers, don't become one yourself. Look at it this way, I'm trying to help you not make what might end up being a huge financial mistake. Build the car the way you want it, because it's the way you want it instead of to show off for other people. In my experience, the latter always ends up quitting out of frustration because there's always a faster car out there.

That said, that picture doesn't tell us anything about what turbo you want.
+1. Do your car for you, not because of someone else. If everyone did their car to show off some cockbag, we'd all be a bunch of reckless, rice infested, broke faggots. But do it for you. Nobody else. And on the picture, kinda reminds me of one of those ebay pictures...

You looked into it so much that you don't know that a bone stock Z6 can easily handle 200whp? You're so full of shit. Put an Edelbrock kit on a stock Z6/Y8 and you have an instant and safe 176whp. Feel free to visit their site to confirm that. After that, Google "BeerBongsKickAss" (minus the quotation marks) and check out the 250whp he got on a bone stock Z6.

Now, if we're talking all-motor you need a lot of mods to even hit 160whp. But it's still far from difficult.

+1 again. I'm going to end up spending a LOT of money getting around here too, probably also a waste of my time and money. I'm lookin to get like 160-170ish, and I'm gonna end up spending around 1k on a good header alone. Sucks.

Haha, well 160 is starting. I figure it won't hurt to get good quality now when I'll need it later, no sense in spending money on something now, then spending more money on the same thing later, you know?

start your own thread...

as for THIS thread, i like it when people want to get big power out of the d-series. to me this is both fun to drive and a sleeper at the tracks. :)

"d"15b????okay i'll try to find a D series thread...

you don't quite understand i think... on the main page, find the appropriate section for your topic, and choose the link that says 'start thread'. that is where you start topics which you would like people to respond to. you should not do what you have done here and ask a different question in someone else's thread. :)
