So over the past week or so I've become increasing depressed with myself. I have been for quite sometime as I've been out of shape and not into caring about health, etc. I normally get into this mood each winter but this year its increasingly diffulcult to get through the thought of being a fat ass the rest of my life. So I'm deciding to do something about...

My fatass currently weighs in at 234 lbs, I'm 5'10 and wear a 38 waist pant. My goal is in 6 months+ to be in at 190lbs. I will reevaluate at that point to get to another target. I want to drop 44lbs and at least two sizes for pants. I'm always going to be a big guy (broad shoulders) so I'm not worries about shirt size.

The bet: I'm looking for a partner of sorts - someone to pony up some cash (~25-50 bucks) to make a donation to the ACS (American Cancer Society) IF I meet my goal (I will match the donation as well).

If I do not meet my goal, I will pay the ACS a donation of $150 and $50 to this person who is willing to make the donation if the goal is met.

Either way, the ACS is winning, but it can win more if I meet my goal. This is my motivation. I will update this post with progress and pictures as the days/weeks/months go by. But first, I need someone to help this come to fruition!

hmmm, thats almost 2 pounds per week, steady for 6 months
 
Let me reiterate - If I meet my goal - partner will throw in 25/50 bucks to the ACS. If I don't meet my goal - the partner will receive 50 from me and ACS will receive 150 from me. Basically the partner will either pay out 50 bucks for a good cause, or receive 50 bucks from a fatass, thus hoping to come in on the good side of things will WANT to make a donation to ACS and not receive 50 bucks from a loser who can't lose any weight!!!!
 
You sure look a lot like pete rose. 34 lbs in six months is very feasible. You can do that with diet alone. Cut all soda, sugar, alcohol and fast food and you will get close. Cardio 3 times a week and its a cakewalk. Good luck.
 
I'll take the bet.

I'll throw $25 into the ring and encourage others to do so as well. Since I'm a filing a 1099, I'm not sure how bad taxes are going to hit me this year after ending my internship so I'm not going to committ to more money right now, but I'll always have a spare $25 for a good cause in multiple respects.


I'm not putting the money against you, I'm putting the money towards ACS and for you to win.

You two are still kind of new too. Give it a year or so it will start to fall off some.


Steve good luck with this. Your goal is very obtainable. Just cut back on any crap you eat. I would also cut back on the drinking if you drink a lot.
Hell a few months ago I got a stomach virus and my stomach was screwed for a few weeks after. I dropped about 12 pounds in 3-4 weeks and kept it off until a week or so ago.
 
some friends of mine did something similar.. each week they'd each put $20 in a jar..(4 of them) .. at the end of 3 months.. whoever lost the most weight, won the cash..

I can vouch that cutting out alcohol will drop your weight dramatically. Over the summer I was running a few times a week and over the whole summer I was down about 10lbs. Late August I had some health issues and haven't drank since. I also haven't worked out once. I'm down 20 more lbs. over the 4 months that I didn't drink.

And hopefully I will be able to start running again soon too.
 
hell, i've dropped about 25-30 lbs in the last year sitting on my ass.. haha.. i basically quit eating as much.. i eat breakfast.. couple snacks through out the day and then dinner.. i used to eat like 5 times a day.. haha
 
This time last year I was 272... and I remember B trying to make a workout plan. Well... I joined Epoc Fitness Forum and read all day long. I am now down to 235 and still going. I changed my diet completely, and started a cardio routine.

My suggestion to you is simple... Dont expect you to hit your goal every week. You will be more down on yourself, and cause you to throw off your focus for the next. Cut all carbonated drinks out, as well as sugars in anything. Fast food is now a no no, and sweet potatoes are your friend. Good luck in your hunt for weight loss. :)
