So I order a $50 SIRIUS card and a free radio. They tell me it's backordered, so I call and say forget it, just cancel the order. She cancels it and tells me the refund will be seen within 24-36 hours. SoI go on about my everyday business, today I get a Sirius Satellite card....and no radio. This stupid bitch just cancelled my order for the FREE radio, so now I have a subscription with no radio.....

I don't even want this thing anymore. Now I gotta go through the hassle of returning this shit.

i use to work at best buy... its a fucking leper colony... fuck that place

Never again. I like sirius though, it's not overloaded with hip hop but still has a decent selection of pretty much everything.

Sirius >XM Thats shitty about the gift card thing.

At the west hartford BB most of the people there don't know shit. I was just bought a TomTom 1 3rd ed. I was looking and asked 5 people what the difference between all of the gps's under 200 were no one knew anything. All they were doing was reading the tags. One person got mad when I said I could also just read the tags. I got lucky that there was a customer that came in that actually did his research.

I got my refund but the whole thing was still unnecessary .

I didn't even bother looking for anything else in there, I just left.

haha i work in west hartford. that is the store known for the dumbass sales people. i can't wait to find a new job everybody there is so stupid, there are maybe a handful of people who actually know anything about anything there. this is what happens when you hire 40 people right before the holiday and tell them if you don't know somthing about the product read it off the card and tell the customer to check the website for more info on it.

I would have done research but it was for work and my pos Magellan crapped out on me.

Unless you deal with a manager or a specialist - most people there are either hired seasonally, or they don't know much to begin with. When I went to a Circuit City to buy a laptop for my father I didn't even bother asking the person there any questions.Brought along one of my friends who is an electrical engineer and is very knowledgeable about computers and such.

I loved it though when one of the kids asked if I wanted Firedog to setup the laptop - for $250 extra. Lol. I literally laughed in his face.

the managers are worse than the workers
not only are they border line retarded and dont know dick about anyof the product in the store... most of the time their head is so far up the corporate ass that they actually encourage LIEING to the costomer if it means getting a sale

your best bet is talking to the brutally honest almost rude employee who is unhappy with his job and the company... youll get honest answers from him (you might not like the answers you get... but they will be honest)

Yeah, I absolutely hate working retail. I part-time at Advance Auto Parts ontop of my machine-shop job and I'm not exactly a fan of the whole SPIF and commission thing. I enjoy helping the customer, but upselling something for no reason feels wrong. I know that happens at most electronics places, that's why I do my research and usually don't let them sell me anything. Main case in point are Monster brand cables. When my parents bought a 46" Aquos at Thanksgiving, they tried selling me a $129 set of HDMI cables. Most people fall for it. But HDMI is lossless. I'm using Zenith $29 cables and they work great.

and not to mention that all those cables are made in the same factory and all cost about 10 bucks. 130 for a cable is just plain stupid. i don't even have monster cables and i work there, i have el cheapo cables and you can't tell the difference between them and "high end" ones. and i don't upsell i tell the customer how it is if the product is absolute shit i tell them in those exact words then suggest somthin around the same price thats better. why should i make the company more money i never see a dime for sellin a more expensive product. Hell i went blind in an eye for this comapny almost a year ago and haven't seen a dime for that yet so you tell me what my attitude is like at work.

lol i work at best buy selling cameras/mp3 players mostly (im in digital imaging and wireless). E is right about managers. they all suck on the corporate tit. theres so much red tape its crazy. but i can understand it because they sell a lot of high priced stuff and have to deal with morons all day no matter how dumb their policies are. for example we had one of the LP guys caught stealing shit. (the "security" guys in the front of the store in yellow shirts) and when it happened managment was VERY hush hush. they wouldnt even tell their own employees what happened. of course you can figure out what happened through rumor and gossip, i just thought it was stupid when the management actively told people in the know to keep their mouths shut. but whatever, i have fun at work, i tell customers the truth, and if i dont know something i either ask someone who does or i do some googling for them to find the answer. i try to always be very nice, and most people are nice back, but some people are just complete douches. maybe its just the holiday season lol. i literally had a guy get mad at ME because what he was looking for we didnt sell and/or didnt exist.

we have this little book of the dumbest things people ask, youd be amazed. examples:

woman standing in checkout lane - "where do i pay for this?"
man walks to the very back of store - "are you guys open?"
hillbilly looking at ipods - "i have a degree in electronics and im trying to explain battery life and gigahertz"

but all in all i like it there. not as much money but a lot better than delivering for pizza hut. most of the people in my store know what they are talking about. im learning little by little. our store is one of the best in the district yet we are probably the smallest

and yea markup is insane on certain things. ill never buy cabling at full price again! or rather as long as i work there lol.

so how long have ya been with the company? i can tell ya that as soon as your there for as long as i have been your attitude will change. i have been through at least two gms ayear since i have been with the company and i cannot even count all the other managers i have been through. basically my store is the one that the district ships all there screw up managers to to give em one last chance before they seek employment elsewhere.

ive worked there since the end of Oct. so roughly 2 months. and yea youre probably right. right now i like working there, but i dont plan on being here after i graduate (about a year away). pretty much all the managers that work there have all worked there since the store opened like 5 years ago. same with the geek squad guys.

but what do you do there? sounds like you work in home theater?

oh and the morning and night meetings are so stupid. do they have some sort of stupid phrase they yell where you work?
