im running the d16y7 in my 97 lx sohc non-vtech, i enjoy my d16 to death but i want more high end power. what should do?:confused:
 
Hook up the power input from the phone directly into the vtech output on your ECU. Don't worry, it'll become obvious when you've got everything torn apart. Next, take the phone plug, and drill a hole in the oil pan approximately the same size, it doesn't matter if it fits without leaking, because you're going to fix that later.

Now, you have two choices:
Swap the motor
d16y8 head and ECU swap

Go with the second if you're not inclined to swap an entire motor, and go with the first if you just need things to be easy. Turbocharging the y7 isn't really a good idea. You'll get more problems if you turbo a stock engine with as many miles as I'm estimating you have.

so ur saying i should swap the y7 for a y8, whats the difference compression wise?
 
there was 2 parts to my post. if you want your car to be a fender faster than your y7 then sure put a y8 in there but if you want it to be cars faster than put a turbo on it or do a complete motor swap..whats your budget

not for turbo well at least not for now couldnt i just go all motor? ive seen some d16s that kicked ass, not sure if it was turbo or not but it was fast as hell. i wanted a b18c1 but id rather keep my d series.
 
well in that case just put a y8 head on it and drop about 1500-2000 bucks in it and it should kick some ass

ok. dont quote me on what i say now, i just might swap for b16 any way.
