Hey guy, im not sure if this is the right forum, but not too many people can help me out when i post this somewhere else.

Alright guys ... in about a year i plan to go to school. Has/does anyone gone/go to uti in az? well thats where i plan to go. i went to one of there open houses and one of the teachers was talkin about we can change valves, pistons etc. he also said that if we wanted we could work on our cars. so what i was thinkin was takin a h22 block down there, and buildin it up. My goal is to hit 10s with a daily driver car. i know it doesnt only take money and power, but also skills. so what hp range do you think i need. i dont care if i hit 10.999, as long as its 10s and daily driving. i have a bseries lsd tranny i plan to use, so it will be h2b. it goin into a 92 civic vx. thanks for all the help, and please dont waste your time on flaming me cuz its just a waste of your beath. if you need more info ask and ill give you info. thanks for all the help guys!!!!

some info i found

Good comp ratio is 9.5:1 ... Anyone got anything to say about this?
Get Forged pistons(JE, Arias) ... reviews and opinions?
Sleeving is good ... i think so too since i cracked my sleeve on my gsr!
Rods is a must (Saenz, crower, jun) .... reviews and opinions?
no stroking or de-stroking ... what is this?
Boring to 87mm, 88mm, 89mm ... whats best? daily driver hittin 10s?
Replace the bearing with oem honda ones ... reviews and opinions?
port and flow head and intake manifold ... reviews and opinions?
Valves, bore them 1/2 mm and use staineless steel valves, theyre better than nitrite coated ... reviews and opinions? or buy other namebrand valves?
No reshaping or radiacal headwork ... reviews and opinions?
Cams-crower, jun, webcams ... reviews and opinions?
HONDATA tuning!!! s300 FTW!!!
I have a gsr lsd tranny, what can i do to that? ... opinions? i want 10s with a daily driver.
Save extra $500-$100 for a rainy day!

You're gonna be hard pressed to build a 10 second, naturally-aspirated, daily driven Honda. Is there some reason why you need to hit 10 seconds? Too much "Fast and Furious" watching perhaps? 12 seconds would be a much more reasonable goal, and would still leave you with a super fast street car.

It's just gonna be really hard to hit 10 seconds on a FWD car on street tires, especially without any type of forced induction. Is there some reason you're shying away from turbo? When you look at it from a cost perspective, you'll get more power for less money from a turbo setup then from an N/A build.

One thing though, concerning your compression ratio, you'll probably want it higher than that if you're not planning on boosting. Something like 9.5:1 with the internals you listed would be good for a turbo application, but if you're staying N/A then you'll want to up the compression for more power.

sleeve, arias pistons (8.5-9:1), crower rods, f23 crank, arp hardware, t3 60-1 or sc60-1, skunk2 valve train, turbo cams, cam gears 10's for sure. if the car is mostly stipped and caged id say you will need around 450-500hp to get a solid 10 with good driving.

why f23 crank?? what kind of turbo cams?? car will be full interior ... like i said, i want it to be daily driven, so i was thinkin on nights that i wanna hit 10s ill bring out some juice! and take out all the seats ... but when its dd ill just drive around with lower boost ... do you see what im trying to get at? thanks for all the info and help powerdriveh22

the f23 has a longer stroke. as far as cams and valve train it is really your choice. but also for a turbo build you may want to scratch the h2b kit. that is a very short geared tranny and for the amount of power you are going to be putting down you may want something with longer gears. ie f22 tranny

well the reason i wanted to go h2b was i already have the tranny, and its a lot easier for me to get a hold of bseries trannies, than h/fseries trannies ... ive been talkin to some people and am debating about making this a 10 second car ... i dont want to start replacing parts every week cause something goes wrong ... so maybe just a mild built h22, i will probably buy a h22 longblock, tear it apart, sleeve it, install pistons, rods, bearings (f23 crank), what compression would be good for a daily driven car? maybe just a good size turbo, nothin super big, but enough balls, what kind of turbo you think? and can i keep the head stock and run it like that until i build it up?? thanks

what H22 block are you using??? must be H22a1..... also you can look into useing the F22 blocks as they are alot cheaper to replace instead of the H... also the F has iron sleeves which will like the boost a lil more.... i would drop a H22a (jspec head) on the F22 block have around 9:2:1 compression, slap some boost on her and go to town..... and i agree with the comment about using the F22 trans, stretching the gears is a must..... the H2B isnt bad if your building stricty NA build and wasnt a daily driver

lastly.... 10seconds is a lil drastic, id read into the NHRA drag rule book before you get to wild.... cus once you hit 11s i believe its time for a cage.... and that isnt the best thing for the DD, if your gonna go all out get something that is fast pick up a roller and go to town on it..... once you blow it up, you got nothing!!

h22's love n/a and nitrous. they are not much of turbo motors; however, they can handle some power. if you just want a good dd. id say leave the motor stock. it wouldnt hurt to go through the motor and reaplace all of the bearings and instal arp hardware. on a garrett t3 60-1 you will be able to make a very streetable 300whp without too much turbo lag. it is also big enough to support 575hp so if you plan on building it then you have plenty of room to grow.

but seriously the b16 tranny is geared way too short to make a very good turbo car. you need a longer geared tranny so you dont burn the tires off through all of the gears. and the f22 would make a good motor. its not that the f22 iron sleeves are stronger than the h22 but rather that you can forge the internals to make the motor stronger.

On top of all the $ and time needed to make a 10 second car, using one as a daily driver is no picnic. It becomes an instant cop magnet, a chore to drive, and you never want to park it anywhere out of your sight. A good low 12 second car will kill most of the stuff on the street and you won't have to strip it down or make it hard to drive.
