 Wow we're FINALLY starting to catch on with the imports and use more turbos! The focus, the cobalt, wonder what's next?

Nice switch from supercharged to turbo. Now they just need to start turboing their non diesel trucks.

Turbos have been on imports since the 70s..... this is nothing new.... infact this car is STILL quite a bit slower and A LOT heavier than the turbo imports of the 70s and 80s.

Turbos have been on imports I said finally WE (as in Americans) are catching on with the imports since the 70s..... this is nothing new.... infact this car is STILL quite a bit slower and A LOT heavier than the turbo imports of the 70s and 80s.

Lol

Dude I'm saying we're catching on and using MORE turbos. How many turbo cars did we have back in the 70's, 80's, AND 90's compared to imports?

Get off my nuts :p.

The GLH rocked everything's face.
hell ya!
and the turbo daytona
turbo probe also

a lot more turbo cars back then then now i think

turbo toytoa pickups, supercharged and turbo toyota mr2's, turbo awd celicas.....ect the list can be long

My gf has a Cobalt, but she's trading it in this month. If they make the SS in 4 Door I'm gonna try and get her to get it instead of that stupid Equinox she's drooling over.

there were a LOT of turbo cars in the 80s and 90s.

most of the chryslers 2.2's (lebarons, shadows, chargers, etc) the probe, the mustang 4 banger edition (i think it was the saleen trim??) the 323gtx, isusu impulse, and more and more

the turbo edition of the probe was called the GT. Mazda also had the 626 and MX-6 which were also called GT's and the were turbo'd too. Oh and the 4 cyl turbo mustang was called and SVO (special vehicle operations) The Thunderbird also had a turbo model too(used the same engine as the SVO 'stang).

True, there were a lot of turbo cars in the 80's and early 90's - mainly as a response to the outclassing of big thirsty V8 motors in American cars. Most of the cars from Chrysler were hastily thrown into production due to the "zomg, we can liek turbo cars and get mileage!!!!1one" sentiment in Detroit. Many of them, short of GLH - actually gained any notoriety. The Daytona, the Sundance, turbo vans, Lebarons and the like were allright cars when they ran fine, but they sucked hardcore when it came to reliability.

My family had an older turbo Sundance and we went through close to 3 cylinder heads, 4 turbos and 1 block due to normal driving. They ate headgaskets, bent valves, warped heads and cooked turbos. The DSM Starions and Datsum 200SX's weren't all that great either.

Nice switch from supercharged to turbo.

Proof that a S/C on a FWD pig with shitty suspension = fail.

EDIT: This thing looks terrible. Anybody who buy's it better be either a girl, or a gay man.

Yeah, I don't think the SS is a looker. The old one wasn't very fast either. I test drove one for shits and giggles and it didn't compare with an Si 2dr. The fit and finish is crap and the trans is horrible. Couple that with ridiculous torque steer, low revs and the worst exterior I've seen in a while - and you have another GM product.

I've got a `07 cobalt now. The new si exteriors look like shit, and I can't stand digital gauges, could they have made the dash any bigger, it sticks out like the side of a canyon, holy shit. The previous models were better imo. The civic shifter is too easy to move, while my chevy isn't hard, but feels like you are pushing something into place. My nissan sentra was just right for the shifter but the rest of the car was crap. Everyone including thier grandmother had a honda in nc, the chevy was actually a little different.

The cobalt is faster, I think the exteriors are MUCH better, the interior has a good look but could use higher quality materials on the dash. The heated leather seats are nice, the stearing wheel is wrapped in leather. Has a six disc changer, sub and pioneer speakers all around. It corners great, but don't remember how it is compared to the civic. Torque steer isn't that bad. Made by some of the same factories that keep me employed.
