Whats up everyone i have a 99 Si daily driver and i want to know if i have to change anything from the bottom end to be able to setup with a turbo kit. I was thinking maybe replacing the piston rings and doing mostly head work i.e. 3 angle job new valve springs and retainers camshafts and gears. The motor has 75,000 miles on it completely stock except for DC sport headers and exhaust. I ordered exedy stage 1 clutch and exedy flywheel. ALL info would be greatly appreciated

PS Im not working with a big budget my brother inlaw is giving me his t4 turbo and intercooler

its going to be and is a daily driver but i want to be able to take it to the track once in a blue with some ok times nothing dramatic. Something respectable

Stock b16's should put out 160-170 hp, a bolt-on turbo running 6-8 psi will put you around...I'd guess at least 250 hp?

250hp will get you probably somewhere around high 13's or in the 14's which is a respectable 1/4 for a Civic.

also i read alot of forums stating that running a turbo setup on a dailydriver without a oil cooler will lead to engine failure soon.. Is that true

That'd translate to maybe 220 at the wheels? I'm not sure on that don't quote me.

And yes that's stock b16 with nothing more than a turbo kit. Should handle it fine.

About the oil cooler...don't ask me I haven't boosted my civic yet I still got some researching to do.

so if i do those few things maybe less depending on how much it will cost me i should gaing some more whp. Which would be good i thought i had to do a whole lot more

no i meant 170mph....lol its a joke..
the b16 is like 165 hp..it all depends on the turbo size...and how much you boost

oh..lol.. i thought i was reading it wrong..lol..my bad.. but im going maybe 7-9 psi on a regular day. I will need a different ECU too right?

7-8 psi is probably the max if you use a t3/t4 or a t25/t25bb smaller turbo without having to up internals, I'd stay at 6 just to be safe. And you don't need a different ecu..you need to get yours chipped and tune it.

what other turbo out there would you recommend if im seeking for more then the T4 and would i have to do more upgrading in the internals then what i stated on my first post?

Why would you need a bigger turbo? You said you wanted 7-9 psi daily. The turbos I listed can handle that, and the t25 bb can go up to 15-20 psi I believe.

A smaller turbo will get you a better track time because it spools up quicker you get less lag and you don't lose out on lower rpm power.

ok ok my bad was miss informed. I thought u was stating that the T4 was just so so. and that i could get something better that results in more power but if the T4 gives better track time and i can run 5-6 psi as a daily driver then im cool with that.

5-6 psi sounds a lot better for DD. And you can always just turn the boost up later on if you feel like building the motor and tuning.

and is that without any mods to the internals? stock b16, also around how much whp would that translate to?

going from crank hp to whp you will lose about 23% of your horsepower. it doesnt go up.

your b16 can easily take 10psi of boost with stock internals, just add bigger injectors, walbro fuel pump, and a fpr... if you dont wanna boost more than 15psi then 350cc injectors will be more than enough. always remember a good tuning with it.
