Help!
I Have A 1990 Civic Hatchback, Std...
I Havent Had This Car Very Long At All And This Is Definately The First Honda Ive Ever Touched. I Am Very Mechanically Enclined... Let Me Start With Whats Going On...

I Started The Car.. Put It In Reverse.. Pulled Out Of My Garage.. Clutch In... Put Car In 1st Gear... Let Clutch Out. Nothing!!! Can Hear A Little Hum And I Can Rev It Up And Speedo Goes Up Just Like Im Driving.

It Did This To Me Once Before Than I Let It Sit A Couple Days And It Was Fine. Been Driving It Ever Since. Til Today.

Im Assuming Its Not The Clutch Because I Can Put It In Forth (its A 4 Speed) And Rev It And The Speedo Goes Up To 70mph Like I Was On The Freeway!! So Im Guessing The Clutch Is Working.

I Dont Think Anything Internal In The Tranny Could Fail Intermittantly And On Top Of That... Not Make Nasty Noises

But why would it go in reverse if the axle was out? Still worth a look!

clutch master or slave cylinder?? it happened to me in my integra, except I couldn't get the car in any gear. Will it still go in first?

+1 for axle.

My Accord was able to move with a bad axle. Don't know how, but it did....then "came loose" again.

clutch master or slave cylinder?? ?

On a 1990??? Cable man, cable. When i broke my axle the car did what you are desribing so it may be one of your axles popped out...not good if it did you would be leaking oil.

was drivin on the highway and an axle popped apart on me! was all like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! goin nowheres.. in conclusion, axels are your best bet

Did it make any funky noises beforehand?
Any previous problems?
When was the last time you replaced your axles, and were the axle nuts tight? Were they overtight?

Thanks Alot For All Your Help Everyone, That Was Exactly What It Was... (axle Popped Out.) When I Pulled Out Of My Garage I Cranked It All The Way Right To Turn Onto The Street... Im Guessing The Strain Of That Was Pulling On The Axle And Popped Her Loose... Anyways... Thanks Everyone!

You really need to make sure you put a kink in the axle nut when you tighten it down. That's why they put the little notch at the end of the axle. As long as you do that, it'll never pop out of the wheel-side.
