yeah i know we're not supposed to get into politics on here any more... but i think its important for people to know who is out there and what their views are on things that might be important to them...

so lets keep this strictly informational, stick to the facts, and leave out the bickering bullshit

if you want to weigh in on how you feel about these issues and who you like, thats cool... but DO NOT attack someone elses views

Abortion: Election Center 2008 - CNN.com

Gun control: Election Center 2008 - CNN.com

Health Care: Election Center 2008 - CNN.com

Immigration: Election Center 2008 - CNN.com

Stem cell: Election Center 2008 - CNN.com

Iraq: Election Center 2008 - CNN.com

Same-sex marriage: Election Center 2008 - CNN.com

Social Security: Election Center 2008 - CNN.com

Taxes: Election Center 2008 - CNN.com

as usual there isn't a single candidate out there that represents all of my views on all of these issues... so looks like once again I'll be stuck trying to figure out the lesser of 2 evils :(

Abortion - killing babies is fucked up

Gun control - everyone has the right to bear arms except felons, that's fine with me

Health care - should not cost an arm and a fuckin leg to get taken care of, I'm 16 and I haven't been to a doctor in 4 years can't afford it. But I also think our healthcare should turn away illegal immigrants

Immigration - force the illegals to build a huge impregnable wall, then force them back to mexico

Stem cell - baby killers

Iraq - Take over the oil fields we need it much more than they do, maybe leave them just enough for an economy

Same-sex marriage - FUCK THAT SHIT

Social Security - it's fine

Taxes - don't spend a penny on illegal immigrants, and lower them for sure

Abortion - go for it. should be left to the individual to make. not the government.

Gun control - there are pros and cons in both directions here, i have no personal prefrence

Health care - see canada. they have free health care.

Immigration - force the illegals to build a huge impregnable wall, then force them back to mexico----- thats a pretty good idea.

Stem cell - its research. usually always involves somebody having to die.

Iraq - eh.

Same-sex marriage - once again, should be left to the individual. why should it matter that two people of the same sex wish to be married? the framers of the constitution did see marraige to be between a man and a woman, but they also saw to be between a white man and white woman, and black man and black woman. if same sex is outlawed, so should interracial. and god has no place in politics.

Social Security - will be bankrupt before most of us will see anything from it.

Taxes - a necessary expense. but should be used for legal citizens, and for people who really cant help themselves, not the ones that just wont.

abortion - I don't give a fuck about, and holds no bearing on my choice of president.
gun control - semi-important, but probably wouldn't break the deal for me if everything else about him looked awesome.
health care - I already have it and pay for it like most people should, and if the candidate wants me to pay for other lazy fucks so they can get it, fuck them (ie, fuck all the dems). I work hard for my money, and if you want health care, you should too. (note, this does not apply to the elderly, i support medicare, etc)
immigration - another thing i really don't care about..... personally, i think peutro rico is a bigger problem around here.... but hey, we made them a 'state' so its a done deal i guess.
stem cell - i don't think government has a say in medicine....
iraq - come the fuck home
same-sex marriage - don't really care
social secuirty - kinda important, but not really. i'm already preparing for my retirement and expecting 0 from the gov't.
taxes - HUGELY important. I paid out $34,000 in INCOME taxes alone in 2007. that's more than the average US salary. shit needs to be done.

what really matters to me:

the economy. we're heading towards 1929 faster than anyone realizes it seems. Shit needs to be done ASAP. Adding more spending isn't going to help (so once again, scratch all the dems and their socialism plans that I'll pay for and juan q. illegal will abuse)

religion. I'm sick of it being an issue in politics. founding fathers said, seperation of church and state.... it's not too hard. I don't want a priest. I want a business man with worldly knowledge (so scratch huckabe)

All that said, ron paul has my vote, even if he doesn't become the nominee, i'll write him in anyway.
i encourage you all to read his issues page...
Ron Paul 2008 › Issues

I'm suprised you don't like him E. he wants you to keep your gun :)

Stem cell - baby killers

i don't think you know what this really is. no babies are killed in the process.

Iraq - Take over the oil fields we need it much more than they do, maybe leave them just enough for an economy

lol. how would you like it if the taliban took over the biggest offices/etc in your town and guarded them with tanks and shit????
WE'D do the same thing if someone invaded us, fight back.
Social Security - it's fine
lol, fail.

Abortion - go for it. should be left to the individual to make. not the government.

Gun control - there are pros and cons in both directions here, i have no personal prefrence

Health care - see canada. they have free health care.

Immigration - force the illegals to build a huge impregnable wall, then force them back to mexico----- thats a pretty good idea.

you sound like a ron paul fan too :)

x2.

you sound like a ron paul fan too :)

actually im gonna book mark your link and read up on it tomorow.
i havnt heard too much about him as i dont follow much of anything.

in a nutshell, ron believes that things NOT in our constitution should be left to the states/regions/etc to handle. it's not gov'ts job to control things like abortion, sam-sex marriage, and so forth.

He wants to shut down the IRS, the Federal reserve, and stop income taxation.

did your ears perk up?

There's enough money from business and tarrifs that they don't NEED to tax us (again) for things to run the nation. the problem is spending.

I don't know about you, but I'd LOVE to see my $34,000 back from my income taxes this year.

He's radical, and totally crazy some say. But that's EXACTLY what we need.

Ronald Reagan endorsed him.

more importantly, media People who have a CLUE endorse him as well.

Jim Cramer from mad money

Glen beck from Headline news

Stephen colbert, jon stewart, and others who we laugh with every day....

But jim cramer's endorsement means to most to me. this dude knows business, finances, stocks, the markets, and everything else inside out.

Brain hit the nail on the head. People talk about all of the change that Obama is bringing to the table but Paul is bring even more in my opinion. I am checking out the videos on Youtube about him right now. I really do think that everyone should scope everyone out really. We all need to wake up and stop voting for the stupid letter next to someones name. I agree with Paul on almost every issue. Hence me supporting him.

I encourage everyone to do research on everyone. That way when someone calls you a dick head for backing someone you can actually explain to them why you support them.

I like Ron Paul's politics, I really do. The only problem I see with him though, is that I think he's too "radical" to actually have any chance of getting the Republican nomination. And if he doesn't get the nomination, and then runs as an independent instead, he could end up being 2008's Ross Perot, i.e. the Republican vote will be split between Paul and the actual Republican candidate, thereby giving the Democratic candidate an advantage.

Not saying any of that will happen, but it could. Like I said though, I am a fan of his politics. I wish he actually had a better shot at becoming President.

Abortion - pro choice up to the beginning of 2nd trimester; procrastinators go to murder island.

Gun control - should only be a term used in reference to mandatory gun safety education in our school system; educate everyone, and decrease the number of victims in the nation.

Health care - preventive vs. interventive; it's broke and so are we. the system needs an overhaul, but not by the federal gov't.

Immigration - lafuckinmigra, jeebus. why do we have borders if we're not going to protect them? throughout our short ass history we fought for this country and then established some pretty reasonable rules for citizenship; don't give it away. if we shared a border with cambodia we'd be talking about cambodians; the mexican gov't is obviously not doing enough for its people, this doesn't mean we're on the hook to. it isn't like we're getting overrun by canucks. this isn't about our government, so our gov't should stop pretending it's an issue. guard the borders.

Stem cell - yeah, all those 1st trimester abortions should automatically be funneled into research.

Iraq - what a damn nightmare. i love our troops, but they should be here, beefing up home security. fuck that oil; we're dumb for getting sucked into the financial system we're in that balances on the price of a barrel. the UN should have meant something but it doesn't. the only kind of true reform comes from revolution. the iraqis just didn't get pissed enough.

Same-sex marriage - if it isn't hurting someone else or taking away their rights, why the hell is this an issue? for all of the fundamentalists out there: that whole christianity thing is kinda based on free will, stop trying to police everyone and get your own shit right with god.

Social Security - blah blah i avoid this one like the plague. not counting on it, pretty much pissed the government 'dips' into it. i'd rather have the money back and put it in an IRA.

Taxes - hehe at first i thought this said Texas and i was like wtf is the problem with texas, now? so yeah, taxes. in general i don't mind paying them because i feel like it's my contribution to the country i live in -- i'm not gonna join the military but i'll damn sure pay for one. i think federal tax should be completely reinvented. i do believe that each citizen should pay federal tax, but it should be like 10% and of that 10% we should be able to direct 40% to something of our choosing:

so for example the gov't gets 60% of my 10% to apply as it wants, but it has to put the other 40% of my 10% to what i specify, which might be defense, education, space exploration, wtfe the categories are that the gov't is allowed to allocate money towards, i should have a right to focus my tax money to.

if this means some programs fail for lack of funding, it's then obvious that the American people don't want that program -- kill it.

nutshell: our age group is about 80 million strong and if you're sick of the way things have been going, i say you vote for radical change/revolution instead of worry about the dem/rep parties and their stupid nominations (and there's really only one choice); we've seen the dems and reps use our country for a pissing match for 20+ years. our foreign policy > our domestic policy and that seems pretty unbalanced to me.

we're due for a damn revolution. bring it, ron paul.

B, nothing radical will ever be passed. Its a system of checks and balances for a reason. I wouldn't really elect a canidate with the pipedream that they're going to be able to deregulate and shut down the FED.

Ron Paul wants to shut the Fed down because he wants to go to hard currency - which 99% of the population will not support.

Read up. If I wasn't lazy, I would pull the Wall Street Journal article on this issue.

In terms of stem cell research, people need to catch up with the time and technology. As of two months ago, they've developed a way to do stem cell research without embryos. They simply learned the genetic code of certain cells and injected them with specific coding that reversed the cell into a "stem cell" that could be programmed to become a specific type of cell. Now they just need time and funding.

Abortion - I really do believe that it is a womans right to choose, but I think age and parental term restrictions should prevent people from going out and being irresponsible, just because they can have an abortion anyway.

Gun Control - Big issue for me, being a gun owner, and having a concealed carry permit. I support gun locks and laws making parents responsible for accidents with children. But the "national ban on concealed carry" that Hilary and Obama love to tote makes me nervous, since it serves no purpose at all to reduce crime.
Additionally, waiting periods are useless these days, with instant certification. If you have a class A, and you pass the instant identity check, why wait 3 days to buy a gun? Another thing that I look at closely is the whole "limit on gun purchases" things. Why limit a law abiding person to buying only one gun a month? Because they shouldn't have a collection of guns? Again, it serves no purpose. McCain, Romney, Paul and Juliani seem to be safe bets, but Obama and Clinton scare me.

Health Care - I do believe in a national health care system. We have the resources to do it, care just have to be taken to prevent illegals from abusing it. The money? Oh, it's there. Some people in big Washington and Congress might take a pay cut to pay for it, but it is definately possible. I'm a Republican - but nationwide healthcare may get rid of all the HMO bullshit people in this country have to deal with.

Immigration - Well, yeah. Build a big fucking wall. Make it easier for immigrants already in the country to become legal citizens, but most of all MAKE THEM PAY TAXES. Deport those who violate immigration laws. And allow non INS agents (State Police, ATF, etc) to arrest people for being illegal citizens. Something has to be done in this country and everyone seems to walk around the subject.

Stem Cell - It's experimentation done to save lives. Sure some embryos have to die. Oh well. You know how many people die in medical research not related to stem cells?

Iraq - I supported it for the longest time, but it's time we get the fuck out of there. The Iraqis don't want us there, apparently they don't want a useful society either. Either maintain control of the oil interests there, or find somewhere else to get oil. Lives of our troops are not equal to that of a society that doesn't want us there. It is a calus thing to say but 1 of our troops > 5 Iraqis. Get us out of there, fuck that country. It had it's chance. People just don't want change. Why? Islam.

Same Sex marriage - I live in MA, so it's a moot point, but it doesn't harm anyone. I don't care.

Social Security - Not really a fan of how it's been reformed, and also pissed that the gov can actually use the standing money for it's own doing, and pay us back with no interest. Either allow us to invest it ourselves, or compensate for inflation and interest.

Taxes - Rep, Dem it's all the same. We're all getting dicked. Estate taxes and death taxes need to go away, and it's time there is a solid income/savings/investment dependent tax table. If I make 50k a year, save 20k and have 100k invested, why pay taxes on everything. Additionally, more wealthy people have more money to burn. Sliding scale tax chart. You make 30k a year, have a xx% tax rate, as the yearly income increases beyond the 100k mark it should put more of a burden on wealthier people. State taxes also need to be looked at . MA is one of the worst states. It's sad when you look at tax evasion and think "hey, it's not THAT bad". Especially on buying a vehicle. You pay sales tax, and tax on the vehicle - and they tax the tax you pay for the vehicle itself. And the government taxes the money you overpaid to them in the first place. WTF?

Basically, viva la revolucion. Ron Paul might change things, but Senators, representatives and Congressmen make the big difference.

Oh, and if Hilary or Obama wins, I'm moving somewhere else.

ALL of the current candidates are GOD DAMN RETARDED.

I usually go for the one that sucks the least, but damn.. there is a pool of fucktards to choose from this election. It makes me sad that one of those morons is going to lead this country. I'm having trouble finding one that sticks out as less of an ass hat.

Abortion: Should not be made Illegal. Simply because if your baby was retarded or seriously fucked up to the point that it would never have a life, you'd have to keep it anyway.

Gun Control: They should pass out glocks to everyone. EVERYONE.

Health Care: If bumping my taxes a little knocks off the $600/month I'm currently paying for health insurance, then hell yeah, go for it!

Immigration: Hire more border patrol agents, station a mini gun bunker every 200 yards along the border and treat them as "Invaders". Mow the fuckers down. They want to come into our country, fine! Do it the legal way. They don't have to swim the river unless they're up to no good. Hell, I'll man a mini gun for free.

Stem Cell: When I blow my arm off in 20 years, and they can't grow me a new one because some jackass banned stem cell research, I'm going to beat the hell out of them with my good arm.

Iraq: We're right on course. You can't change an entire country and expect it to live on its own in a matter of a couple of years. that takes decades.

Same sex marriage: Fine! You should be allowed to marry the person you love. If the person you love is a fudge packer, so be it. Who the hell are we to tell them any different?

Social Security: Is dead. Quit lying about it.

Taxes: Taxes could be reduced considerably if we'd get a real financial guru in the whitehouse/congress. Actually track where all the money is going and hold people accountable. We spend too much fucking money.

This is actually the most disturbing part of this thread. His "lightning round" segment is the worst performing(money-wise), least thought out (Cramer has said it's the weakest block of his show), and yet the most popular. Go read his book B, then come back and tell me he has worth.

Shit, both him and Beck are retards.

Abortion: Two things. One: I have a dick swinging between my legs. This makes my view on abortion COMPLETELY irrelevant. I have my own views, but I have no say in a *woman's* freedoms. Two: Keep your Bible out of my goddamn face, lest I beat you with it.

Gun Control: Amendment 2. Argument over. Education should be the tool to combat the problems with guns.

Health Care: Something needs to be done. When people go poor paying for medications, it's no different than being taxed to poverty.

Immigration: Immigration is great! It's how this country was founded (by us, at least), but you need to go through the proper procedures before you can live here. If you don't, we boot your ass.

Stem Cell Research: The more the merrier. We need medical science to advance as fast as we can possibly make it. Again, you Bible bangers can get out of my face before I give you a need for advanced medical research.

Iraq: WHAT A FUCKUP. There isn't anything we can do. The people who sent us there should be skinned alive and left to die under the desert sun.

Same Sex Marriage: Who cares? Let it happen. That many marriages, honeymoons and home purchases, etc will give the economy a needed boost. This is yet another issue with the Christeys and they need to shut the hell up.

Social Security: Won't be here for me. I've already owned up to that fact.

Taxes: Needs to pay them. We all do. Not as much as we do now, but if we get that trillion dollar gorilla off our backs (READ: Iraq), maybe we wouldn't be screwed by the gov't. Again.

i read through the ron paul site.
and it seems pretty up to par on what i would like to see from the government.
i just dont meet with his views on abortion.
and he doesnt say anything about same sex marraige.
but he seems to be more interested in what is good for the country, and just the country.

so as for the whole of what his views are, im only against one. and that seems to be pretty good seeing as to how i cant stand any of the others.

lol. how would you like it if the taliban took over the biggest offices/etc in your town and guarded them with tanks and shit????
WE'D do the same thing if someone invaded us, fight back.

Yea but the difference is, the taliban are weak. We're strong. Countries have dominated other countries in history, and in the end, it's the most powerful that survives. I say we take the fuckin oil to lower gas prices.
