GSR Swapped/Gutted
Hey all.

I just got a obd2 GSR motor off HMotorsOnline.com and I was curious to what intake tube I should get for my car.

Currently, its a 97 Civic DX manual and it has a Ebay short ram on it FOR the DX specifically. So I am aware i need a new on to stick on the GSR when it drops in, but I don't know if i need to order one for a 99-00 Si or one for a GSR? I'm guessing order one for a Si being that the GSR pipe drops down on the inside of the framing VS the Si's outside the frame. I would like to go cold air, but short ram would be fine for now just to get something on it to be safe.

I searched every thread and could not find anything about this issue. So, I made a thread.

Mods please be nice and let this post please, I'm very serious about posting on here and I currently own 3 Honda's/Acura's. I have a 97 Coupe, 90 CRX Si WILDLY modded (super clean though), and a 97 Integra coupe.

Thanks

AEM sells a "hybrid intake kit" for honda's with b series motors in a particular chassis.

ya its pretty spendy too.. i saw that one and i was considering it.. but really.. someone has got to know what i can use. even if its a cheapy ebay one for the time being. Thanks

Just put an air filter on the TB. Lol, j/k but why cold air? I think the short ram is better for the throttle response but just my .02.

Get a JDM whale penis intake.

B-series are interchangeable like D-series I would assume, but not sure.

I was looking at the PasswordJDM carbon fiber one, thought it was pricey too though.

Essentially what im looking for is just something CHEAP to get by for now till i start fidgeting with motor and tuning. An ebay intake short ram would be fine... i just dont know what one to get:confused:

GSR, Civic Si, Civic EX, Base Integra

Hey did you ever swap that GSR out of yours brothers wrecked car?

and why a 4 door? :shiver:

Get the intake for your car, not the engine if your doing a cold-air from aem, it should fit fine. I usually run a short ram ITR 3" intake, and when I goto the track I put the extension on it and run it out of the passengers side headlight with a screen on it.

somehow, I feel that you obviously didn't read my thread. So let me reiterate it for you.

I HAVE A DX ENGINE IN MY CAR. THE INTAKE IS DIFFERENT THEN THAT OF A GSR. IM PUTTING IN A GSR IN LESS THEN A WEEK. I HAVE NO INTAKE FOR THE CAR!!!

So, with that being said, AGAIN... what I am saying is that i need to know what intake i can run for my car being as to that it WILL be a hybrid and all....:(

Ek w/ OBD2a GSR swap. What intake tube do i use? .. if no one knows FOR SURE, PLEASE DO NOT REPLY. i dont need info from tire kickers or gerry rigers.

ill probably end up just ordering the AEM hybrid tube, i hate to spend that much on something but, thats life i guess.:(

Just got my motor in from HMotorsOnline.com ... Looks great very clean no damage, sorta. Missing a sensor, a few vacuum lines got severed, and some other razzle dazzle. but, all in all, its what i wanted. im a picky guy and im very happy with the service i got.

A little over $3300 for a COMPLETE swap including all the proper mounts, linkage, and even the A/C bracket as well. now i just gotta get it put in and play with it.

I do have one question though.. what about the exhaust part of the swap. it came with the factory GSR headers.. will it link right up with my stock DX exhaust? or do i have to get soem new parts???

Thanks Guys.:D

LOL. That's another guy with the brother who wrecked his car I was just helpin him out.

And I chose a 4-door because I just love the way it looks. Not to mention dx models are roughly 200 pounds lighter than ex/si coupes because they have all the extra electronics. And if I started a family down the road I wouldn't have to sell my badass coupe for a sedan because I already got a fast sedan :D.

Point taken. but honestly, you should see this video.. it will make you think twice about having a 4 door honda:eek:

Ahh fuck it. My car doesn't even have airbags if I wreck I'm screwed.

But thanks to that vid I'm not turbocharging my car without a rollcage, bigger brakes, and high traction tires.

cold air is gonna have to be custom or the AEM hybrid.. if not you can run a GSR short ram

well, being that i live in the seattle area, CAI is outta the question. im not going to hydrolock my new motor. but ya, thats what i figured, GSR SRI.

who makes the best one for the money right now? still AEM > Ebay?

for < $30 i can get a ebay one and go to napa and pick up a K&N for $20 and be right up there with AEM i believe.

im trying to stay as street legal as i can so emissions wont bite me in the ass. thats why i went with the obd2a setup vrs the obd1. i figure what ill do is get it all setup for the obd2a for emissions then do the obd2a - obd1 conversion and run the obd1 crazy tuned ecu for more tunability and POWA! maybe throw in a stage 2 cam and gears and full exhaust for now. then, if this thing can make it to next winter without any issues maybe i slap in a 8psi tubro kit. if it blows, well then ill go nuts on it.

Fidanza flywheels still pretty good or should i shoot for a Toda Racing one?
6-puck clutch or stage 2?

man, its annoying trying to find any current up to date info on aftermarket parts for performance. Plus i tried to go down to "a tuner shop" the other day and didnt really get any other answer short of 18psi turbo.... not what i was looking for. lol

You can just find some pipe and cut it to the right length for the intake and just slap a filter on it. Every bit as good as AEM I mean an intake is an intake, air goes through the filter, through the pipe, into the TB.

Or yea an ebay intake will do.

Cut some pipe, and add filter?

then what? should I add an automatic rice dispenser on the back of my car and one of those big ass wings too?

LMAO... :D

You're supposed to put the rice and water in the muffler then idle for about 20 minutes. Instant rice. Or you can rev it up and blow it out and have burnt rice.

no sir, you are wrong. Thats Cajun Style Rice... AHAHAHA...
ok enough before it gets racial.

anyways, im gonna go start stripping off all the BS on the motor that does not need to be on there.

there is a sensor that looks to be missing on the back side of the TB. im gonna take a pic of it real quick and post it on here. would appreciate some help in identifying it please. i need to know what to tell HMO they removed and need to send me.

Anyone else on here purchase from HMO before?

i see PasswordJDM has cheap swaps now too! bastages

I got my d15b vtec from HMO and it's clean as fuck. Looks like the valve cover was just painted. NGK red plug wires etc. Everything works fine except the IAC valve and the IAT sensor. The vtec doesn't seem to be working either the oil pressure sensor is wired up but the code showed up, disappeared, showed up, disappeared, now it's back lol.

If there's a sensor ON the back side of the TB it's the TPS. Mine didn't work I had to use the old TB from the b7 because it was missing a vacuum nipple too along with that sensor.

you are obviously not a fabricator... nor very creative in problem solving. laugh at yourself for being an ass towards someone trying to help you.
