I just picked up a b18a1 motor and i have no clue what i need to get to do the swap. the motor was in a 91 acure integra. can anyone tell me everyhting i will need to do the swap? will my wiring harness work? ecu? motor mounts? anyhting else? OH its goin in a 90 civic 4 dr
thanks

If I were you get a Haynes or Chiltons manual for both the Civic and the Integra so you can compare ecu wires. You are going to need to switch from DPFI to MPFI. As far as parts I assume you have the Engine, Transmission and ECU. You should also get the engine wiring harness for the Integra if you don't have it already. I would start on the wiring part first as it will take some time. I'm doing the same thing only I just decided to rewire the Civic like the Integra. If you want some pics check out my thread

I hope you got the transmission and ECU in addition to the motor. You have to use a B-series tranny on a B-series engine. Your Civic's transmission won't work.

Well, here's a good place to start:
b18a1 swap « Project CRX

Without knowing exactly what model civic you have, it's hard to say what you'll need. Is it DPFI or MPFI?

it'd be appreciated if you subscribed to my projectcrx site as well.

I would also get the integra axles and spindles/hub assembly, they will bolt right up and you wont need hybrid custom axles.

You shouldn't need to swap the hub assembly for any reason. Just remove the inner dust shield, and the Integra axles (which are sensitive to ABS or not ABS) should slide right in and not mess with geometry at all. Go for '90 - '93 Integra axles.

I don't know about that, With my swap I did in my 89 hb I had to us the spindles off the teg, because the splines are way bigger on the teg axles, I don't see how removing the dust shield would make the bigger teg axle splines fix in the civic hubs. :sniper:

It may be different on a per-trim level. My CRX Si had no problems whatsoever with 90-93 LS/RS axles.

i had ls/vtec in my 91 hatch and the integra axles fit right in... didnt have to do anything.... weird... but now its in my integra....

Well maybe it was because I was running a YS1 trans.

The YS1 is exactly the same transmission I used for my CRX. It's the default B18a1 cable tranny. I don't see any reason you should need to swap your knuckle assembly for that.

Even when I DID swap my knuckle assembly (including wheel hubs) for the '91 Integra knuckles(for a brake upgrade), the very same axles worked perfectly. No troubles whatsoever.

:sniper::gunfight:well whatever, the fact is, when I did my swap I had to use the hubs off the tegge, because the splines on the tegge axles were bigger!

the 4speed civics all came with smaller hubs, and will need to swap them to the ex, si or integra hubs. that includes all years of the HF rex, hatch std and one of the civic sedans (i dont remember the year/model). if your swap recipient is a 4 speed, you'll need the hubs, if it's got five forward gears, you're fine with yours.
