I am looking into buying a '91 crx with the d15 in it. I just picked up an f22b1 motor with the tranny, and wiring harness for a whopping $70. The car itself is around $700 but I am going to try and talk him down. I am going to swap the f22b1 into the rex for the simple reason that I don't know many that have done it. I like swaps that are out there. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on mods that I should do to this engine. One thing for sure I will be getting the cylinders bored out, and going with new pistons. It has a lot of mileage on it so that is concern number 1. Keeping the bottom end stout enough to handle anything I throw at it. My first challenge for myself and the rex is to see how fast it will run with the new bore and pistons, a cai, header, and full exhaust. I might also go throw an aftermarket cam, and cam gear in it before I run it. I was thinking about swapping the head with a the f-series vtec head as well and going with a vafc2. But I am debating with that because swapping the head might raise the compression and I love the low compression this motor has for boost. If anyone has any suggestions, wants to tell me I am crazy, or whatever you would like drop me a reply.

it will swap in just like a h series motor so by mounts for a h series into a crx, and follow the same swap guides for that,, if your gona boost it dont put a vtec head on it

thats what I figured as far as not doing the head swap. and thanks for the tip about the mounts. Which turbo would you suggest? I am trying to keep the whole build within a $3500 budget. So far with the car, motor, tranny, and wiring harness I am probably around $600. So that is another $2900 to work with. But I might increase that budget depending on how things go with cost.

just make sure its a good name brand kit no ebay junk,,,garrett is my pick, or turbonetics

I also have the full d15 swap to sell from the crx itself, along with any interior peices, and any stock parts that are replaced from the f22. so there is more funds for the budget

I have another question.....What all is needed to run fuel injection in a car that has a carb? I have been looking at also getting an 84 crx. It is like $200 cash, but it has the EW-1 motor in it which is the carbeurated version.

no clue about that one

Oh well there are a couple of them I am looking at. I just have to find one that is either cheap, or has quality parts to sell and up the funds for the project.

mikunis>fuel infection

check motorcycle boneyards for a good set of carbs and that thing will howl.

Well thats the thing I have a motor I just bought to swap into it. The motor with the carb. is toast. He thinks it has a blown head gasket but it hasn't run in like 10 years but I am not interested in that motor anyways. I just need to know what it takes to switch a carbeurated car to fuel injection

The wiring harness will simply come over from the swap motor.

If you go carbbed, it would be totally kick ass. But you'll need to be really careful when tuning them and re-jetting them. It's not for the faint of heart. You'll spend about 20 hours putting it in the car, and it will start. You'll spend another 60 hours getting it to run right.

check out bisimoto.com there knowen for there all motor 300+ hp f series drag car.

thank you. sorry guys but there is no point (in my eyes) to rebuild a motor that is most likely seized that also needs a head gasket, then also replace the carbs. No offense to you guys but I prefer to just drop in the $70 I just spent for the motor I just bought. But I will gladly sell you the motor from the car when/if I buy that crx.

They're telling you to carb the f22. Not to rebuild the carbed motor in the car.

There's nothing to it when you put a MPFI engine in a chassis that previously housed a carburated engine. Everything is handled by the new engine's computer and harness. You'll probably want to leave the choke cable out of the new install though, maybe put a blanking plate in its place on the interior.

carbing the f22? that would be sick. although I prefer the fuel injection. I already have a carbeurated project car.
