ok so i have a b16a that i swapped into my 90 DA i have most bolts and i little head work done... my plan is to turbo it.. i heard b16s have great toloreces for boost.. should i keep my 16 tranny? or i have an ls i could use since it should work better with boost right being longer gearing? and what i have turbo, waste, gate, bov, all pipping, clamps, oil line, oil return line, intercooler, exaust mani, boost controller, boost gauge .. what else do i need? and how many psi is my safe range? any comment/idea welcome thanks

i personally like the b16. i had one that would not blow apart.... with ur question, go with a gsr tranny. unless u plan on reving the hell outta that thing. an ls trans does have the longest gears, but u have to rev the motor so hard to keep it from falling out of vtec, that it would definately shorten the lifespan of the engine. the ammount of boost depends on the turbo u use. boost is not what kills a motor... horsepower is. i suggest you run a t3t4 hybrid. theyre common enough to find everywhere. much bigger than that and that lil b16 wont be able to spool until like 4500... i have a b16 tranny with an lsd in my turboed crx. i have to short shift the hell outta my car to get any hince of traction in 2nd gear. hope this helps...

ya i have the b16 lsd too... i like the tranny tho gearing is a lil short and thats what i was thinking is i dont want it to fall outta vtec band everything shift but how to you have your stuff set up? and i was gunna go with a garrett baring barimg t3 t4 just like you said... any other advice?

Skrotm I still want to see your rex bro. If your ever in Tally shoot a PM...

OP- just bolt it up, get it tuned and try it out. if you don't like the wheel spin, swap in the LS trans.
What size turbo are you looking for? .60 trim range? What power goals do you have? When do you want it to spool up? etc etc.

im going for a t3 t4 looking for spool around vtec 4500 power goal is 300-350 to race the crap out of. i really dont think it would last without boom tho.. hp aside im looking for a dd that can run low 13's to 12's

Your kind of contradicting yourself.

You know the whole, "fast, reliable, cheap -- pick two." saying...

If thats what I was looking for I'd look at around a 60 trim turbo. maybe something a little smaller like a 57.
-Use a good manifold (NOT a log) that will last you a good while (around $500)
-Don't use crappy parts in general (ebay couplers, FMU, etc.).
-Get GREAT tuning. This means EVERYTHING to your "reliable" aspect. Your engine will not last long on simple basemaps.

Basically... Don't waste your money on crappy parts. Period.
You'll have nothing but problems.

Save your money, buy the parts 1 piece at a time, with a common goal in mind, so all the parts flow together. Be smart about it (the FIRST time), and do more research than you think you need to do.

GL. Searching and research has just become your new hobby.

read my signature...that explains everyhting..also id just swap in the ls tranny..the b16 will do just as everyone else said..SPIN...save yourself the hassle by doing everything right the first time...trust me i WAS one of the people that went my own way and didnt listen to the members here the first time..it sux having to redo shit

oh damn didnt really mean to hurt ppls feelings.. see but the thing is i dont have ass loads of money to spend here ive been saivng and im going with my best options here and what i meant by cheap is deals on good shit.. im just waiting for things to come to me like they always do. automatic stock da-200 bucks fully built b16 with lsd tranny and almost every goodie you could thing of-600 bucks... looking to spend around 3grand after i sell a car ive been fixing up

If your concerned about money, don't turbo your car.

Leave it stock and just drive it. Don't waste every dime you have on a cheap turbo kit, or on your car in general.

hmm if you would rread my shit instread of assuming im using cheap ass parts... which im not all im looking for is deals on good shit... i said im looking to spend all together 3 grand

see but the thing is i dont have ass loads of money to spend here

Sometimes even with the best of parts and tuning, it takes money to maintain a boosted honda. He wasn't assuming, he was just telling you that if you don't have "ass loads" of money to spend, then don't boost it. But if 3 grand is less than ass loads for you, then I'd like to see your paycheck :)

oh thats after saving and selling a car i ust dont want to hurt my motor but still more alot more power and ass 3 grand is an ass load and if you saw my paycheck you would laugh at me :( so plan is 5psi daily diver maybe 8-10 racing and i was looking at turbonetics kits

GOOD FAST CHEAP,
you can pick only two.
fast and cheap isn't good
good and cheap isn't fast
good and fast isn't cheap

Read that. Again. and Again.

You snap back at us for telling you how it is, but you keep contradicting yourself.

oh thats after saving and selling a car (1) i ust dont want to hurt my motor but still more alot more power and ass (2)3 grand is an ass load and if you saw my paycheck you would laugh at me :( so plan is 5psi daily diver maybe 8-10 (3) racing and i was looking at turbonetics kits

(1) Ain't going to happen, pal. EVERYTHING you do to your motor to make more power will take away from it's life.
(2) Like I said (to which you so rudely snapped back at me about) :

If your concerned about money, don't turbo your car.

(3) Kinda goes along with the "more power" thing. Every time you redline your motor you put a considerable amount of wear compared to just daily driving it.

Again. If your concerned about costs, power, and reliability... Think twice about doing major mods to your car (such as a FI system).
