My name is Byron.
Call me retarded if you will but I was thinking the other day if it would be possible to swap a b-series into a carbureted civic or crx with the use of independent carbs from an older street bike or something, i just think it would be kind of a cool swap. Just wondering if I was the only one who thought it may be possible.
 
that would be kinda sick. I'm suprised no one has replied yet. I got all kinds of replys when I had bought an 84 crx with a carb. everyone wanted me to run a carb setup on an f22b2.
 
I figured somone out there has done it or knows of someone who has.
 
novelty doesn't outweigh reasoning. if you wanted to do it, i'm sure it wouldn't be too hard. but nobody does stuff purely out of novelty, but rather than performance.

If you are taking about itb(individual throttle bodies). I had a gsr with honda 954rr throttle bodies with custon vaccume tank. worked real well!!
 
ITB is still fuel injected. And I know that most swaps are performance orientated, I just wanted other peoples opinion on the idea and if any one has seen it done.
 
carbs is not efi itb :)

carbs is old school. efi is far more efficient and far more tunable.

its useless, that's why it hasn't been done.

that's like saying you want to upgrade your computer with a monitor like this because it has better blacks and greens :rollseyes:

he's basically saying that newer cars work better with efi. it is better to tune with efi and tuning programs than carbs. carbs just throw air and fuel into the engine. efi can tune a lot better and get better performance.
 
I understand the concept and differences of the two, and I'm not saying that a carbureted car is better. I was just trying to find out if anyone had a link to a site or picture where it has been done, because it is a possible setup.

anything is possible. but i don't think anybody here is going to spend the time researching it becaue it would be a bad idea to actually try and build. your best bet is going to be to just google it yourself.
 
For a B16 or B18C,I wouldn't do it simply because the area around the VTEC crossover may be hard to tune. Carbs emulsify fuel better than injectors but lack control like EFI(for a injector to atomize fuel as well as carbureters, it would need to be much further down the intake tract). For a drag car, carbs would work fine but road course you may run into issues. I think some guy carb'd his R30 Skyline and it lacked the powerband needed for a road course.

Bisi Ezerioha has proved that carburetors still make power; with a 270whp D15 and a 430whp F22A. He only recently switched to EFI(ITB) because couldn't get the mixture rich enough with methanol and the carbs.
 
I think it could be done if you set your mine to it ....i had n idea with the itb n im sure it would allow threw just waiting to have the time to start the small project of using itb with turbo atleast i think no one has done it......

They are in fact carbs not ITB's. I knew I wasn't the only person to think of this, and it must work well,(with a big enough wallet and hours of R&D) to put up those kinds of numbers. And I'm not saying everyone should go out and run a carbureted car but it is a pretty cool he has the setup he does and runs that fast.

go for it!!! period. so they aren't as tuneable, but it would be one of the most unique setups on the road, and in my eyes anyways, being unique is a part of building cars.
