..is grounded.
so yeah. i searched and couldn't find an already existing thread...and well i think it's fun to see/hear about first cars.
just in case i'm not alone, here's my full auto-biography (get it?) heads up, my lil bro kinda always ended up in my car shots.
first car: i absolutely loved it: '80 celica gt 5spd limited ed. w/fucking louvres! loved to tear up the muddy ditch roads in this and then spend saturdays washing it. passengers had to hold their door closed though, and the hatch leaked so it smelled pretty mildewonderful. i'd buy this car again if i could find it in no-rust shape. i still think it's a sexy beast . retired at 220k.
2nd: eh, 90 escort gt 5spd with chronic power steering pump issues. great damn stereo though. and the darkest tint i've ever had. this one liked to completely catch air on this one hill on the outskirts of town. anyone who's been up behind "a' mtn in the foothills knows the one. yeah i smashed my sunglasses on the roof of the car (they were on top of my head). rock! i'd give the suspension a . sold back to the stealership after 3 yrs of damn near monthly power steering pump replacement.
3rd: my battle tank, the '86 honda accord lxi 5spd complete w/memories of my bro upchucking orange sherbet in the back seat on a summer roadtrip. i killed a washing machine at 80mph in this thing, the dent on the dside door is from a big tree that saved me from a rollover (damn cheerleader pulled out in front of me and i ended up on a circus ride), the driver's doorhandle fell off shortly after this picture (as did the handles on several of my friends' late 80s accords, wtf), and this car did 130mph for an hour straight across the new mexico desert, high noon. i felt like a bad ass . retired at 288k.
how i got around campus and avoided parking fees w/#3: capture the flag and other fun games on tues/thurs nights on nmsu campus ftw. i miss those days...
4th: the 2nd biggest mistake i ever bought, don't ever think you can bring a salvaged title from outta state into minnesota. that looks like an invitation to buttsecks for the MN DMV. i lost about $5k on this deal (had to ship it back to NM where it was unloaded for a lot less than i paid). friends called this one the flying toaster.
5th (borrowed a shot from the interwebs): this would be my biggest mistake ever, but it was at least fun to drive, whereby fun i mean heavy smooth ride w/heated leather seats. i was commuting a lot...it was ok for it, but too damn spendy. gave it back to the stealership at 56k. you can fit 4 drunk people in the trunk easily.
6th and favorite ever: dad bought this when i was 16 and i was pissed it wasn't for me. 10 yrs later i bought it off of him and thoroughly enjoyed it until some batshit MN driver failed to notice the painfully obvious bright yellow car waiting behind some other yahoos on the highway for someone to turn..this one's no more.... put to rest at 237k.
my 7th and current ride (though it has stock tails now, whew): couldn't really do without a rex after finally having my own for several years. it gets me by . rocking along at 242k.
my 'beater: yeah this is the one i just got the 'my carbon footprint is bigger than yours' bumpersticker for. i actually share this ride with a friend; i drive it in the winters to save my rex, and he drives it the rest of the time to haul his buddies up nort (said w/heavy midwest accent). best way to get a decent beater for cheapo, imho. 111k.
what i cruise around HS in. forgot to put this one up
