anybody know anything about eclipse???
my bro is either picking up a 95 rs with a 4g63(2.0 non turbo), or a 93(1.8non turbo)
i was just wondering what to look out for when looking at them..,good,bad...\
and anyone have any info sites for these??

Look for a GSX badge. Turbo AWD.

Gs-T is turbo FF.

It would be a good idea to get one with a 4g63 that's a good engine for boost. Even if he doesn't boost it's a good engine all around.

yea gsxis a sick setup...
but they are only $500 each....the 95 needs a map sensor..so if he gets it,,hes dropping like 1g on other shit for it...the car looks straight..

Make sure all the bumpers etc. line up to see if it was wrecked and when you open the hood check the frame under there. When I bought the civic I didn't check and it turns out the front-frame/radiator support is bent so the radiator sits high and the hood slams on it it was obviously wrecked.

The 95-99 model Eclipse's have the best body IMO they look fuckin cool. I say find a working MAP sensor for it and test drive see if it's all good and that's the only problem. Got pics?

edit - and if he's spending about $1,000 after the purchase get a 98 front bumper I think that's the year it looks sweet.

eclipses have MAFs not MAPs.

the 2G RS is the 2.0L 420a, NOT the 4g63.

the 1G non4g63 is the 4g37, which is basically my motor with a longer stroke and MAF.

The non turbos have more problems than the turbos......
mind going into detail??!?!i have heard about crank walk in the 4g63

ahh ok,,now he said the car will need to be towed away..he said i could fix it there if i wanted...soo would the MAF cause it to not start??

Do you know if it was swapped?
i dont think it was,,and heres the ad
Great shape!!! 95 mitsubishi Eclipse

it may or may not. if the MAF was disconnected and the car has not run in awhile it may not start.

looks good though ;)

u sure bout them not havin maps? i'm pretty sure my buddy's talon has a maf and map. all i can remember is bitching about it having both when we pulled his motor for the rebuild. idk, it was a long while ago.

buying any car under $2000 is going to have issues. this will cost more in the long run than buying a real car to begin with.

yea,,im pretty sure this car does have a map sensor...i was on mitsubishiforum and someone said it will just have a maf sensor if its turbo..but this is an rs(non-turbo)so it does have a map sensor...

i understand that buying a car under 2k will have problems but thats why im trying to get opinions,,,,im just trying to figure out if i should take the guys word for it and pickup the car and do the sensor at home....or should i buy the map sensor and attempt to fix it there...

and this is for my bro,,he just turned 16 and has 1300 to spend on a car..he bought the civic that i currently own,and it was nothing but a problem,,hes just trying to get something that will be a cheap fix,so he can learn to drive on

i ment even on the turbo cars. because there's a point where you dont have boost, but just vacuum. so it would appear to me it would need a map.

my friend's talon had/has a turbo 6-bolt 4G63

if he has limited funds, he should look into an ef civic or a crx. cheap, easy to fix, and reliable. plus, when he gets money he can throw in a b16 swap or something. never ever buy an unfamiliar platform just because it's cheap.

I used to drool over Eclipses too. Until I found out how cheap and easy it is to work with Civics and actually I'm looking for an 89-91 crx si or civic hatch si to trade the sedan for after I finish up with some problems.

i paid 1200 and 1300 for my mirages, and the only problems with those vehicles were caused by me directly.

your statement is not always the case.

this is HONDASWAP----- I think your looking for MITSIBISHISWAP---- if there is one-- lol im bored and no nothing about DSM sorry just ignore me

well, for the most part, if a 16 year old kid buys a very cheap car, there will be problems. they will drive it hard, hit shit and not keep up the routine maintenence. but there are some that can maintain and upkeep the car.

I'm pretty sure DSM's have tranny problems, most of the ones i'm seen have gear grinding problems. And i'd watch out for ball joints too.
