I have a DOHC ZC, i am currently researching all the parts im going to need, one of the big ones is, what ECU and what programming is going to be the best at a decent price. I am not looking for something thats super boosted as i'm building as i go, i just need to know what to start with, currently i have a t3/t4 turbo kit with 38mm wastegate, 5-30psi adjustable. 2.5 inch piping inter cooler, with BOV. 2.5 inch downpipe, I plan on running a lower psi (6-10) as the motor is not ready for anything higher yet. I plan to install 450cc injectors also, a fuel pump if needed. i am in the middle of questioning wether or not to go with a zdyne ecu based on the on board boost control options, any info, or available write ups or parts lists would be great! thanks!.

You don't think you're going to just drop some generic answer in, do you?

You need to have the ECU tuned with something like TurboEdit.

No, i plan on having it tuned, but i am trying to weigh out my options, as im clueless as to where to take it for tuning or what ECU to use for the DOHC ZC with a turbo- from what i read most of them can be updated, the only thing i've been told locally is hondata, still looking for a good local shop, but thats proving to be difficult.

excellent, thanks so much, thats exactly what i needed to read, another question before i jump into this, obviously i need a boost controller, but i am reading these have fuel and map sensor controls built into them, am i to believe i dont need to update my ECU if i am using a device such as the Gizzmo IBC G9020? heres a link Gizzmo IBC - Intelligent Boost Controller - G9020

this is my first turbo project, i am very understanding of honda mechanics, but never ventured into boost. thanks for your help and patience.

cool, appreciate the 411, sounds like i need to get an ecu and find a local shop - or start learning these tuning applications myself (ha) thanks for your help

in using a pm6, witch wouldnt be a problem i have a stack of them from building civics, is it not going to be an issue with the sohc vs dohc? i assume the chipping will adjust the fuel mapping?

thanks for the clarification - no need for the attitude bro - ill take my questions elsewhere, scratch my comment on thanking you for your patience.

The point of chipping is that you are able to reprogram a given ECU to run whatever your motor setup is. All you need to worry about really is finding an ECU that can easily be chipped and modified (the PM6 will work fine in your case), and not about what type of motor that ECU originally was paired with.

For example, the P28 is probably one of the most popular ECUs to use due to it's ease of chip-ability. People use it all the time for the dual-cam VTEC builds, even though it originally came paired with the single-cam D16Z6.

Hope that helps clarify things a bit...

dohc turbo

learn from me the dohc does not hold boost well i had my boost controller set at 8psi and down shifted the other nght and blew a hole in the side of my block so if you plan on boosting a DOHC ZC DO NOT DO IT WITHOUT A PRO TUNE and do not listen to anything about how easy it is to tune your self its not i am proof i have hole the size of my fist in the side of my block i have to get another motor now! :(
