I'm down about 18% since November 2007 :(

Good thing I'm not retiring for another 23 years...

Are you down from you initial investment, though?

Even when the market is down, its up from the past.

99% of the companies that you're invested in probably haven't negatively changed their business to cause your stock prices to drop, therefore most of your decline is probably just market influence. This is a good thing because as soon as the market comes back up, so will your stocks.

Nothing to worry about here.

CD's. 6.4% ain't too bad.

my 401k looks like shit, but that's because I'm not contributing anymore. All of my "play" stocks (I trade with fake money, for fun) are going strong. I've been paying a lot more attention lately.

my fun money is up 52% since last march. too bad i didn't invest more since then.

My 401k is down 5% for normal, last quarter. I usually see 20% return. I think this month is going to be real bad, I don't want to look yet. :(

i'm down 22% from initial investment.

fortunately, half the money is my companies, so in the long run, i'm still up from what i put into it :)

Good way to look at it. That's a pretty good cover if they match 100% of your investment.

they match 100% up to 3% of my salary.

so i put away 3% ($175) and they put $175 to match for a total of $350 a month pre tax.

it droped my pay about $8, since it's pre-tax money, so it's even more ahead

JESUS! That sucks.
yeah I know but I try to keep in mind that it's long term investment and the company gives 2% so there is more money in it than I've put in

the pre tax is nice. I have been disapointed in my 401k's performance over the past year, and was looking at taking that money and investing elsewhere. I came to the conclusion that even with the 401k losing .8% I'm still not doing horrible when concidering that the money is pretax and the companies 2%

out of 12 funds in the 401k:

2 are "performance not available"
4 are up for the current quater
6 are down the current quater

YTD are:
2 "not available"
2 are down
8 are up (3 up double didgits)

I guess I shouldn't be bitching if i'm still seeing 15% gain? :) B, my company matches the same as yours, that number seems pretty common.
